Chapter 100:

Belinda never expected that the slightest hesitation on her part would provoke Fred into challenging Kristopher.

Those two simple words from Kristopher were enough to make her temples throb.

As things stood, she knew she needed to act. Without another thought, she stepped forward and positioned

herself in front of Fred.

“Stop it, Kristopher! Whatever is between us has nothing to do with Fred!”

Fred was far too young to have his life squandered like this. Sure, Kristopher would definitely get angry at Fred,

but he would also target Belinda.

Unfortunately, words had already been spoken, and Fred's remark was as good as a challenge directed at

Kristopher.

And Belinda knew all too well the consequences of going against Kristopher.

She had seen it happen before, witnessing the fate of those who foolishly stood up to him. They were all

prominent figures in Nawrin, too, yet their social standing did nothing to protect them from Kristopher’s wrath.

What would happen to an ordinary college student like Fred? If Kristopher set his sights on the boy... Belinda

couldn’t even bear to think of the possible outcome.

Kristopher’s gaze seemed to darken even more at her words. He rolled up his sleeves and slowly approached

them.

“He is your boyfriend now?” he asked in a cold, menacing voice, his lips curled into a cruel smirk. “How can you

claim that he has nothing to do with us?”

From where he had been standing, he had only seen Belinda and Fred in an embrace. But now that they were

right in front of him, Kristopher noticed that Belinda was wearing Fred's jacket.

His nostrils flared, and a muscle twitched in his jaw as he gritted his teeth.

He used to do the sthing with her, long ago.

Each time, Belinda would look up at him, her eyes wide with surprise and gratitude. Then she would clasp his

hand in hers and lean against his arm. Sometimes, she would nuzzle his chest.

Other times, she would stand on her tiptoes and press a kiss against his lips. She would ask him to go hin

the softest of whispers, and they would be locked in a passionate embrace as soon as they walked through the

door.

Those sweet moments had always been rare and few between. Worse still, Kristopher had failed to see Belinda

for the gem that she was and failed to treasure her as he should have.

Now she was wearing another man’s jacket. And the man was significantly younger than him.

Kristopher narrowed his eyes.

He wasn’t stupid.

Of course, he knew that Fred had lied on purpose, not so much to stand up for Belinda as to provoke him.

Kristopher had been sure of that. But after seeing her in Fred's jacket, his resolve began to waver.

Belinda hadn't even been this intimate with Darren.

Was it possible...

Kristopher drew closer, his voice deep and laced with danger as he said, “Belinda Nelson.”

“If you have a problem, cat me,” Fred interjected, pulling Belinda behind him. “Don’t cause her any

trouble.”

Belinda was caught off-guard when Fred yanked her back, and she had to take a few seconds to regain her

bearings. Once she did, she rushed to get in between the two men again.

The memory of Kristopher and Darren brawling in the ward was still fresh in her mind.

There had been doctors and nurses who had intervened yesterday, but right now, the streets were empty. If they

did start fighting...

No, Belinda had no plans to pay a visit to the police station!

But Fred was rooted to the spot, shielding her from her ruthless ex-husband. “It’s okay, | can handle this.”

“Quite a devoted puppy you have here,” Kristopher remarked as he pocketed his hands. He watched the couple

as they struggled to protect each other, his smirk turning into a mocking grin. “How old are you again, Belinda?

Why are you wasting...”

“Your tplaying such childish games with this kid? Con, you know me. | don’t have to hit him myself to

hurt him.”

Belinda froze when she heard this, a chill racing down her spine.

Fred paused too, the color draining from his face.

Just like that, Kristopher had reduced their valiant efforts into a joke.

Kristopher cocked his head to the side and stared Belinda in the eye. “Or did you honestly think that you could

protect each other if | decided to target the two of you?”
