Chapter 105:
Belinda paused, quickly shaking her head, and stammered, “No, I...”
Before she could finish, Kristopher had already stepped out of the car. Puzzled by his abrupt exit, Belinda
watched as he walked around to her side, opened the door, and lifted her into his arms.
Startled, she exclaimed, “Ah!” and instinctively clung to his neck.
Her reaction seemed to delight Kristopher greatly.
He carried her toward the entrance of her apartment building, feigning annoyance. “Didn’t you say you'd be
better off without me? Why do you feel even lighter now?”
The lighting in the building was dim.
Resting her head against his chest, Belinda felt a swirl of emotions.
She knew she should explain, resist, and set clear boundaries.
But she had loved him for five years and been his wife for three.
She had nursed him twice—once for three months and once for six.
It wasn’t easy for her to just say goodbye to such a deep connection.
Moreover, she needed to keep him happy in order to get her cat, Fluffy, back. Knowing Kristopher’s nature,
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtdemanding Fluffy’s location during their divorce talks could backfire.
She could drag out the divorce proceedings, wait until he was ready to propose to Cathy, wait until he couldn't
wait any longer.
But Kristopher had never cared for Fluffy. He would sneer whenever he saw her with the cat and tell her to get
rid of it.
She worried that pushing him too hard might lead him to actually dispose of Fluffy.

Soon, they were inside the apartment.
Although the apartment had been cleaned earlier, Madisyn’s carelessness had left many items out of place,
making it feel cramped and cluttered.
“I give you tens of thousands for spending money every month, and this is the place you rent?” Kristopher
scoffed, repeating his complaint from his previous daytvisit.
Holding onto his neck, Belinda offered an embarrassed smile and replied, “It feels more down-to-earth.”
In truth, most of her money had been spent on her stomach cancer treatment and maintaining her pregnancy,
leaving little for anything else.
“I don’t get any down-to-earth feeling, only the stench of poverty,” Kristopher said, frowning as he set Belinda
down on the sofa. Before she could even catch her breath, he loomed over her again. He roughly tore open the
collar of her hoodie and planted a forceful kiss next to the mix of old and new marks on her skin.
His intense actions caused Belinda to wince in pain.
After a moment, he pulled back to closely inspect the marks, his frustration seeming to fade.
Belinda found his actions somewhat amusing. Who would have imagined that Kristopher, a man wielding
immense power in Nawrin, could show such a childish side?
Noticing the amusement in her eyes, Kristopher narrowed his own, grabbed her chin, and kissed her forcefully.
The room's temperature seemed to climb, the atmosphere turning steamy and charged.
In the throes of their passion, Kristopher whispered seductively in her ear, “I thought after you moved out, Mrs.
Cox, your life had becso full that you'd forgotten me. But it seems... you're as passionate as ever.”
Blushing deeply, Belinda was at a loss for words. Finally, she averted her eyes from his intense stare, which
seemed to devour her.
“Kristopher, | need to... ask you for a favor.”
Kristopher chuckled, his voice low and teasing. “Ask for what? Faster or slower later?”
Despite her embarrassment, Belinda remembered her main concern. “Fluffy is missing. | need your help to find
him.”
Raising an eyebrow, Kristopher’s tone turned ominous. “So, all this is about that stupid cat?”
