Chapter 109:
Cathy turned to Belinda in confusion and raised an eyebrow. “Your cat?”
“Yes,” Belinda nodded. “The cat that | included in the divorce agreement.”
She was already walking past Cathy, heading into the villa to call out for Fluffy.
Along the way, Belinda accidentally brushed shoulders with Cathy.
The contact was very light, barely worth noticing, yet Cathy acted as if Belinda had bodily rammed into her. She
clutched her shoulder and took a few steps back, her eyes welling up with tears. “What are you doing, Miss
Nelson?”
Belinda gave her one cold glance before continuing with her search. The first thing she noticed when she entered
the living room was how the layout and interior decor had been changed.
The center wall, where Belinda and Kristopher’s wedding photo had once hung, now displayed Cathy's portrait.
The overall palette of the fixtures had also shifted from vintage brown to Cathy’s favorite pink. The place no
longer contained any traces of Belinda having ever lived there, a testament to Kristopher’s limitless indulgence
of Cathy.
This was more or less within Belinda’s expectations. Even so, seeing the villa she once called hchange so

and regrets back and continued calling for Fluffy.
Cathy remained at the doorway, her hand still cupped over her shoulder, her face still twisted in false pain. “Ah,
it hurts...”
“Cathy.” Kristopher walked up to her with a frown. “What are you doing here?”
Cathy paused and bit her lower lip, fresh tears springing into her eyes. “I had a fight with Mom, so | ran away
from home. Maggie toldthat this place has been empty since Miss Nelson moved out, so I...”
She hesitated, looking up at him with her wide, pitiful eyes, and made her lips quiver. “You're not mad at me, are
you, Kristopher?”

Kristopher closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose. “Why didn’t you call first to tellyou had no
place to stay? I could have made arrangements for you to stay somewhere else.”
Cathy gritted her teeth. “Am | an inconvenience here?”
Kristopher nodded. “I've been coming hto this place recently.”
For sreason, he had grown particularly fond of this place and spent almost every night here, with Fluffy also
settled in the villa. For Cathy to move in without so much as a warning... He would be forced to stay in another
one of his properties.
“But it should be all good!” Cathy exclaimed, her face suddenly bright with excitement. “This villa is huge. We
can both live here, right?”
The truth of the matter was that Cathy had barged into the villa precisely because she knew Kristopher had been
staying here. She also had an inkling that he was likely missing his twith Belinda, hence the impromptu
transformation.
If this place held all the memories of Belinda, then Cathy would just have to replace them with new memories —
this time, of hers and Kristopher.
“It isn't appropriate,” Kristopher said with a weary sigh. “Fine, whatever. You can stay if you want.”
With that, he walked through the door and stepped into the living room. The sight that greeted him deepened his
frown into a scowl. “Did you do this? All by yourself?”
He had only been away for one night, and he no longer recognized his own home!
“Maggie and | decorated it together!” Cathy said cheerfully, totally unfazed. “Do you like it?”
She sidled up next to him and pouted her lips. “I never saw Miss Nelson's cat, though,” she said, casting a
pointed glance upstairs, where Belinda was. “Didn't she take it when she moved out? Why is she looking for it
here? Or maybe... is she really here for the cat, or is she just making up an excuse to get close to you?”
