Chapter 112:
Belinda overheard the conversation between Kristopher and Cathy clearly.
When Kristopher’s words reached her, Belinda scoffed and lifted her head. “And why should | reassure her?”
“She feels so sad now. Just tell her you don’t hold it against her for pushing you down the stairs just now,”
Kristopher replied, his brow furrowing.
“Why would | not blher?”
With a derisive laugh, Belinda straightened and stared coldly at Kristopher and the woman he held. “If | hadn't
been lucky, | could have died from that fall down such high stairs. She nearly killedand didn’t even
apologize. Why should | say | don’t blher?”
Upon hearing this, Cathy's breathing quickened. She clutched her chest with a pale hand, visibly struggling for
air. “It’s true then... Miss Nelson still holds a grudge... Kristopher... It's unbearable... | can’t breathe...”
Seeing Cathy grow increasingly pale in his arms, Kristopher quickly grabbed his phone and dialed a number.
“Cto Swan Lake villa right away and take Cathy to the hospital!”
After ending the call, he held Cathy closer, whispered comforting words to her, and shot Belinda a frosty look.
“She might have pushed you, but didn’t you start it by grabbing her neck? Cathy's health is fragile. Was it really
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtokay for you to grab her like that? You grabbed, she pushed. You're even now. Is it really that hard to say you
don’t blher?”
Hearing the man’s harsh words, Belinda’s lips tightened. Any remnants of the tender feelings stirred by last
night's passion evaporated instantly.
With a sneer, she fixed her gaze on him and demanded, “Don’t you know why | grabbed her neck? She knows
how much I love Fluffy, and she knew | was desperate to find him. Then she goes and taunts me, suggesting
she’s cooking cat meat in her stew! Yes, | lost my temper, and | shouldn't have laid hands on her. But I'm aware
of my own strength. There's no way my grip could have choked her! Don’t believe me? Check her neck. Any
bruises?”
Belinda’s words left Cathy momentarily stunned, prompting her to instinctively cover her neck.
With a furrowed brow, Kristopher pulled Cathy’s hand away to examine her neck.
It was unblemished, the skin still pale and smooth, without a single mark.
His eyes grew darker, his gaze more complex as he turned back to Cathy.
“Do you see now?”
Turning to Kristopher, whose face had tensed, Belinda continued, “I didn’t squeeze hard, yet she made me
tumble down the stairs. I've been merciful enough not to call the cops on her for assault. Should | also be the
one to forgive her first? You both must be out of your minds!”
With those final words, Belinda took a deep breath, clutching her sore legs, and limped toward the door.
It seemed that Fluffy was nowhere to be found. Belinda saw no reason to linger just to witness the couple
flaunting their affection. As she approached the door, it swung open from the outside.
“Meow!”
Belinda’s head snapped up at the sound.
It was Fluffy’s voice!
“Mrs. Cox, what brings you here?”
Marc stood at the villa’s doorway, astonishment written across his face, clutching a cat carrier.
Inside that carrier was Fluffy — the very cat Belinda had spent the entire day searching for!
“Fluffy!”
Ignoring the throbbing pain in her leg, Belinda dashed forward, seized the carrier, extracted Fluffy, and cradled
her beloved pet.
It was indeed her Fluffy!
“Marc...”
Upstairs, Kristopher’s brow furrowed as he released Cathy. Rising to his feet, he called out, “What's happening
down there? Why is Fluffy with Marc?”
