Chapter 172:

Belinda, initially poised to confront Maggie, lost all interest in arguing upon hearing the nurse.

She dashed into the resuscitation room, calling out, “Anthony!” As she entered, Allen instinctively looked towards

the doctor, who gestured for him to proceed.

Kristopher’s brow furrowed in annoyance as he glared at Maggie, warning, “If Grandpa suffers because of this,

you're cut off from your allowance!”

He then quickly made his way into the resuscitation room.

Cradling her aching wrist, Maggie trailed after Kristopher, muttering bitterly, “If something's wrong with

Grandpa, blthat witch. I've done nothing wrong.”

Overhearing her, Kristopher halted and turned to shoot her an icy stare. Silenced by his glare, Maggie clamped

her mouth shut.

Inside the emergency room, Anthony was visibly struggling to breathe, his face flushed and an oxygen mask

over his nose and mouth.

The sight deeply pained Belinda.

She clasped Anthony's hand, her voice laden with worry. “Anthony, it's me, Belinda. I'm here to see you.”

At the sound of her voice, Anthony's breathing steadied slightly.

He turned to look at her, his eyes clearing as they met hers.

Clutching her hand with one of his, he reached out to gently touch her face with the other. “Belinda, | regret the

hardships you've faced since your marriage to Kristopher.”

Belinda’s palm tingled from Anthony's tight grip.

She hadn't anticipated his first words after waking up would catch her so off guard.

Yet, on reflection, she could see why he might feel that way.

Anthony probably thought Maggie had crossed a line.

With a sigh, Belinda softened her voice, aiming for a calming tone. “It's okay, Anthony. Actually, I...”

“What hardship has she ever faced?” Belinda’s words were cut short by Maggie at the door. “She owes Cathy

and Kristopher an apology!”

Ignoring Kristopher’s warning glance, Maggie marched into the room and declared, “Grandpa, don't let her fool

you. This woman betrayed Kristopher...”

“Maggie!”

His patience wearing thin, Kristopher frowned deeply and snapped, “Get out!”

Maggie's guilt flickered across her face at his shout.

However, she lifted her chin defiantly and countered, “Am | not speaking the truth? Why should | get out?”

Pointing at Belinda, she continued, “She's the one who should leave! I'm his granddaughter, and Belinda is an

outsider. Why should | have to go?”

Upon hearing these words, Anthony's face, already obscured by an oxygen mask, flushed a deeper shade of red.

He struggled for breath, his eyes blazing with fury.

Despite the muffled quality of his voice through the mask, he mustered all his strength to bellow. “Get out! |

know Belinda better than anyone else does. She would never betray anyone. She’s not that kind of person!”
