Chapter 183:
Kristopher’s frown deepened, and he stayed quiet, respecting his grandfather's wishes. A heavy silence
enveloped the room.
After a moment, Anthony sighed and turned to Belinda. “Belinda, when | orchestrated your marriage into the Cox
family, it was because | truly cared for you and envisioned us as a family. | never anticipated this...” He let out a
heavy sigh. “But Allen is a good young man. If only you could find happiness with him...”
“Anthony,” Belinda interrupted, her smile warm as she balanced two breakfast trays in her hands. She weaved
past Kristopher and approached Anthony. “What are you implying? | don’t need a man to define my life. Please,
stop making plans for me.”
She placed the hearty breakfast in front of Anthony and Allen and skillfully arranged the small table on Anthony's
bed. As she laid out the dishes, her smile softened, comforting Anthony. “Even after the divorce, Ill still treat you

Don’t worry!”
Anthony's laughter filled the room. “Alright, alright. Ill stay out of your affairs. But promise me, Belinda, after the
divorce, you must visit often!”
“I will, Anthony. Haven't | always cto see you and looked after you before | was married?” she reassured him
cheerfully.
Kristopher lingered by the door, his expression tightening as he observed Belinda caring for Anthony with such
joy. His gaze becincreasingly troubled.
Lately, any conversation with his grandfather, especially about Cathy, would swiftly turn into an argument. But
Belinda had a unique way of pulling the old man from his fits of anger, making him burst into hearty laughter.
What was it about her that made Anthony so deeply fond and tolerant? At that moment, Belinda was turned
away from Kristopher, busily arranging Anthony's breakfast.
As she turned to throw away strash, she realized that the doorway, where Kristopher had been, was now
vacant. “He stepped out after getting a call.”
Noticing Belinda’s gaze drift to where Kristopher had stood, Allen explained in a calm tone as he dabbed his
mouth with a napkin, “I didn’t catch the details, but it sounded like Cathy needed him. He's been away for quite
stnow.”
Belinda uttered a soft “Oh,” her face showing little interest as she continued with her task.
Her curiosity was merely about the timing of his departure. She was not bothered about the reasons or whom he
was with.
“That rascal is completely bewitched by that woman!” Anthony scoffed, then looked towards Allen. “Speaking of
which, | remember that rascal mentioned Cathy fell ill while she was overseas. Could you find out what was
wrong with her?”
Allen raised an eyebrow. “Could Kristopher be treating Cathy well because she’s ill?”
As he posed the question, he glanced instinctively at Belinda. She remained composed, focused on arranging the
items on a small table, her expression revealing no emotion.
It was as if the people Allen and Anthony were discussing were strangers to her.
“What illness? It's merely an excuse!” Anthony snorted dismissively. “Cathy appears rosy and energetic. If she’s
ill, it’s likely nothing serious. Could it be a terminal illness?”
