Chapter 198:

Allen raised an eyebrow. “Booked up?”

“That's right,” Madisyn said with a subtle smile, clearly enjoying the situation. “Kristopher has reserved a fancy

bar in Nawrin tonight to toast his divorce with his friends. You wouldn't want to miss that, would you?”

Allen was taken aback by Madisyn’s words. He instinctively turned to look at Belinda, who was wearing

sunglasses, concealing her eyes and making it hard to discern her expression. However, Allen sensed that her

demeanor remained unchanged. It was as though the man celebrating their divorce was not her husband.

“Allen?” Noticing Allen’s fixed gaze on Belinda, Madisyn furrowed her brow and whispered, “If you're not

attending Kristopher’s party tonight, we could have dinner instead.”

Allen snapped out of his reverie, his expression turning somber. “Perhaps we should reschedule.”

“That sounds good.” Madisyn’s lips curled into a sneer. “After all, you and Kristopher have such a long history.

Your bond with him is stronger than with anyone else!”

After speaking, she turned to face Belinda with a smile. “Let's get going.”

“Take care, Allen!” Belinda called out, her smile broadening as she waved to him. The very next moment, the red

Ferrari roared to life and zoomed off.

“Belinda, you really should keep your distance from him,” Madisyn advised from the passenger seat, her tone

mocking as she watched Allen shrink in the rearview mirror. “He’s nothing but a deceiver. He clung to you all

afternoon, whether it was at the hospital or lingering by the entrance of the court. But the minute he found out

about Kristopher’s party, he ditched you without a second thought and didn’t even stick around for dinner.

Clearly, he puts his interests above anything else. He values his ties with Kristopher far more than his connection

with you!”

Belinda kept her eyes on the road as she drove, her response cold and detached. “I'm aware. That's why I've

already told him that there's no chance for us. It's over.”

Waiting at the traffic light, she turned toward Madisyn with a grin. “I'm not naive enough to be duped by those

trust-fund kids again.”

Madisyn sighed in relief. “Belinda, I'm so glad you see it that way. | was really worried.”

Before she could finish, Belinda interjected, “Don’t fret. Allen’s decent, but he’s just not my type.”

Elsewhere, by the seaside, Allen was in the passenger seat, his gaze fixed on the rearview mirror.

In it, Belinda’s car shrank to a mere red dot before disappearing altogether.

Furrowing his brow, Allen sighed deeply, circled the car, and then settled into the driver's seat. As he savored the

sea breeze, he checked his phone.

The group chat with his childhood friends was buzzing with talk about Kristopher’s divorce.

“Belinda used to throw fits and threaten divorce all the time. Each time, she was the first to back down, and

they'd reconcile. Is she serious about it now?”

“Perhaps she'll back down again. But things seem to have escalated too far. They might end up divorcing before

they consider remarrying.”

“Before, when she caused a fuss and talked about divorce, Kristopher simply shrugged it off. But now that

they're actually divorced, is he going to entertain this queen and take her back?”
