Chapter 246:
But he vividly recalled something Joyce had mentioned five years earlier.
“Why don’t you like red? My sister loves red. You have no idea how lively she is or how stunning and spirited she
looks in red. When your eyes are healed and you can see, I'll make sure she wears red just for you.”
Those words lingered in Kristopher’s memory.
Back then, he had to leave the small town to attend to family matters before his eyesight was restored, so he
never got the chance to see Joyce's sister in a red dress.
“It's not that | dislike red. I just don’t like wearing red clothes,” Cathy said quietly, turning to Kristopher and
gently linking her arm with his. “Kristopher, think about it. When have you ever seenin red?”
Kristopher furrowed his brows. “Do you really not remember much of the past, Cathy?”
Her heart skipped a beat at his question. Cathy instinctively glanced at Belinda in the distance. She noticed the
red bag Belinda was holding and quickly understood.
“That's right. Most of it is a blur.” Cathy bit her lip for effect, then affectionately leaned her head against

of things.” She sniffled and pulled back to look at his face. “Did I like red a lot back then?”
Kristopher paused at her sad expression before letting out a soft sigh. He patted Cathy's head. “Never mind that.
It's not important. If you can’t remember, just let it go.”
Cathy ducked under his chin again, her expression turning cold. After they decided on the dresses, Kristopher
took them to a jewelry store owned by the Cox Group.
The process wasn’t smooth, but Belinda eventually picked out the jewelry for both Cathy and Maggie.
For sreason she couldn't quite figure out, Kristopher seemed to be in a good mood that day. Not only had he
given her a red dress, but he had also offered to gift her a set of jewelry. Belinda refused, of course.

She had only accepted the dress because she had nothing suitable to wear to the event—and also out of spite.
He kept insisting she attend in style, so she might as well do it on his dime.
She didn’t need the jewelry, though.
Belinda had her own money to spend. Besides, she didn’t want to be indebted to Kristopher, let alone accept
luxury gifts from him.
Finally, today’s task was over, and Cathy and Maggie left with Kristopher. Belinda dragged her exhausted body
back to her apartment.
She changed into her loungewear as soon as she arrived and slumped onto the sofa. She was playing with Fluffy
on her lap when her phone rang.
Belinda glanced at the time. It should be Madisyn calling at this hour.
She grabbed her phone, eager to share everything that had happened during the day. But her smile quickly
faded when she saw the ndisplayed on the screen. The call wasn’t from Madisyn at all.
Instead, the caller ID showed a nshe hadn't seen in a long time—Donovan Nelson.
Her biological father.
When Belinda was just two days old, the sister-in-law of the nanny who worked for their family had also given
birth to a daughter. The nanny devised a plan to switch the two baby girls so that her niece could enjoy a life of
wealth and comfort.
