Chapter 260:
Subconsciously, Belinda glanced upward, drawn by a sound above her. At the stairs connecting the ninth and
tenth floors, Kaya, Cathy's agent, leaned casually against the railing. With a mocking smile, she said, “Looks like
the truth’s out. The troublemaker happens to be Mr. Cox’s ex-wife's lover. His ex-wife? She's just a simpleton
from the countryside. What could she possibly know? I’m going to make sure that woman ends up behind bars
soon enough. | bet Cathy would love that...”
Kaya’'s smugness grew with each word. Shifting her stance, she continued to lean on the railing. But as she
turned, a white figure caught her eye below. Though she couldn’t make out who it was, her instincts, honed by
years on the job, kicked in. “We'll pick this up later. We've got company.”
Belinda had hoped to listen in a bit longer, but Kaya's warning was clear. She had been spotted. Without
hesitation, she retreated to the eighth-floor corridor.
“You made it!”
In the corridor, Cyril burst forth, his face lit up with urgency. He grabbed Belinda, hustling her into a nearby
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtroom. “My client's boyfriend has been cozying up to the director. He's after her medical records... If you hadn't
shown up when you did, they would've found everything out!”
Belinda lay on the bed with a frown, staring at the ceiling. “Is her boyfriend a doctor?”
“No, he isn’t a doctor, but he’s consulted several top doctors for her treatment. He even plans to share her
medical data with international experts!”
Understanding dawned on Belinda. “Her boyfriend is really devoted to her.”
“Absolutely.”
Cyril grinned. “I heard that when they were younger, my client, Miss Scott, once saved his life. He promised then
that he’d do whatever it took to cure her illness...”
Upon reaching the hospital room, the nurse began to check Belinda’s blood pressure and draw her blood. Her
recent exertion, having climbed from the first to the eighth floor, combined with her frail health, made the
process challenging. Wincing, she commented, “Miss Scott's boyfriend treats her so well. Why would she deceive
him?”
If someone treated her that well, she couldn't bring herself to lie to him. “You just don’t understand,” Cyril
replied, waving his hand dismissively. “This is all part of Miss Scott's plan. Besides, if she doesn’t feign illness,
would you have had the opportunity to receive such excellent medical care? It’s harmless to you anyway. Just
play along with her.”
Belinda furrowed her brow, considering his words. Eventually, she conceded, realizing the logic in his argument,
and ceased her questioning.
Shortly after, the nurse completed the check-up, and Cyril eagerly took the data and left.
Belinda, unsure if Cyril and the so-called Miss Scott needed anything else from her, chose not to leave
immediately. Instead, she lay back on the bed and began scrolling through her phone.
The intewas abuzz with negative news about Cathy, but it seemed to be subsiding rapidly, likely due to
Kristopher’s intervention. Belinda remembered the hurtful rumors that had branded her as a mistress and sighed
deeply.
It was clear to her now; the way Kristopher handled a situation showed where his affections truly lay. If only he
had quashed the rumors about her with the svigor he did for Cathy, she wouldn't still be facing backlash
from the public.
“Belinda.”
