Chapter 267:
Belinda felt a wave of discomfort.
She instinctively stepped back.
Kristopher stepped forward, maintaining the salignment between them.
Her brow creased, and as she moved to step back again, Kristopher cornered her against the wall beside the
staircase.
In a bid to prevent her escape, he leaned close, pinning her to the wall. The firmness of his body pressed against
hers, pushing her spine against the cold, stark wall. Belinda instinctively frowned.
This closeness made her want to resist.
Without thinking, she tried to push him away, but Kristopher restrained her hands above her head.
Trapped, with her arms held fast, Belinda could only look at him with fierce anger and demand, “Let go of me!”
Just then, Belinda’s phone rang.

screen, his expression darkened.
The sight of this nmade him feel irritated, a wave of frustration rising within him.
“Is it Fred?”
Kristopher glanced at the non the phone screen, then at the clock. With a measured pause, he looked up,
meeting Belinda’s gaze with a frosty expression. “Do | need to remind you it’s ten o'clock at night? Why is he
calling so late?”
Belinda’s breath caught. Despite their divorce, Kristopher spoke with a tone that suggested she was still
accountable to him, as if she had been the one to betray their vows.
At that moment, the call disconnected. Before Belinda could recover, the phone rang once more; Fred's name
flashed again.

Kristopher looked at her, his voice steady but cool. “It seems he'll persist unless you answer.”
As he reached out, Kristopher subconsciously moved to press the answer button on the phone.
Belinda’s eyes widened in sudden panic. She instinctively reached out to snatch the phone away. “No!” She
knew exactly why Fred was calling.
The last thing she had told Fred when she walked out of the hospital room was that he couldn't act recklessly in
the future and that she would handle things with Kristopher.
Fred was a young man, full of life and energy. He was likely calling to clarify things about their relationship and to
urge her not to interfere in his life any longer.
If Kristopher were to answer the call, an argument between them would surely erupt. Instead of helping Fred, she
would only succeed in making things worse between him and Kristopher.
Belinda hadn't realized that her anxious behavior only served to deepen the chill in Kristopher’s eyes. “Why?”
His large hand closed around her phone. “In the past, | could have answered any of your calls,” he said. “You had
no secrets from me.”
