Chapter 269:
Fred's voice softened with relief at her words. “Okay, thanks.”
Belinda lingered on the line a moment longer. “After all, you did all this for me, and | won't leave you in the
lurch,” she comforted him gently.
After hanging up, she straightened up and walked toward Kristopher.
As her footsteps cto a stop, Kristopher flicked his cigarette butt into the trash can and met her gaze with a
cold look. “So, was that Fred you were bidding goodnight to at this hour?”
“What do you think?” Belinda’s eyes narrowed, her tone as frosty as her stare. “Do you think Fred can get any
sleep tonight with your men lurking around?”
Kristopher’s brow furrowed in confusion when he saw her serious expression. “What exactly are you
suggesting?”
Belinda inhaled sharply. “You traced Fred's IP address. Who else knows about it?”
“Cathy does too,” Kristopher admitted, his frown deepening. He peered at her intently. “What's going on?”

pounding on doors, searching for him. Whoever sent them must know what he posted online earlier.”
Kristopher hesitated, his voice low. “I didn’t send anyone after him.”
Belinda locked eyes with him, determination clear in her voice. “That leaves only two people who could have:
you or Cathy. If it wasn’t you, then it must have been Miss Miller.”
“Don’t make false accusations.”
After hearing Belinda’s suspicions, Kristopher’s eyebrows furrowed deeply. “Cathy is devastated and seriously ill
from the backlash online, and her life is in danger right now. Moreover, she’s inherently compassionate and
would never think of hurting someone just because a college student posted alleged evidence on the internet.”
He looked at Belinda before him. “I know you have your reservations about Cathy and that you don’t like her, but
there's no need to portray her as a villain.”
As he spoke, his eyes conveyed deep belief and earnestness. He had unwavering faith in Cathy. Regardless of
what Cathy claimed, he would accept it. No matter her actions, in his view, she remained an innocent, gentle,
and kind-hearted person.

Belinda suddenly felt it was all so futile. The truth was evident, yet all she received in response was “Don’t make
false accusations.”
In his eyes, Belinda’s justified concerns about Cathy were dismissed as unfounded allegations and defamation.
“Alright, I got it wrong.”
She no longer wanted to continue the conversation. “You're right. | chere to plead for Fred's sake.”
Taking a deep breath, she continued, “I'll try to persuade Anthony to approve your engagement with Cathy.
Regarding the incident online tonight, I'll have Fred issue a public apology from his account. Leave him out of
this.”
With those words, she turned and moved past him, heading toward the stairs.
Kristopher watched her go, clearly surprised. “Where are you going at this hour?”
He expected that after his remarks, Belinda would engage as she typically would, offering srebuttal. But she
remained silent, merely acknowledging her mistake before departing.
