Chapter 281:
She had only managed to hide her medical condition thanks to Marlene’s help, who worked at Peace Hospital.
Belinda was almost sure that Kristopher wouldn't take her there at such a late hour. And even if he did, Marlene
would have probably clocked out hours ago.
She didn’t want anyone — least of all Kristopher — to know about her illness. She didn’t want his sympathy, real
or contrived, nor did she want it from anyone.
“How could you possibly be fine?” Kristopher said, his voice rising in a mix of anger and worry. He glanced at her
and added, “Just look at yourself in the mirror. You don’t have any color left in your face! Aren't you always
taking care of other people? Why can’t you take care of yourself for once? How can you let things get this bad?!”
Belinda pursed her lips and checked herself in the side mirror. Her complexion... was indeed frightfully pale.
She opened her mouth to protest further when she noticed a black SUV suddenly appear farther behind them.
Their pursuers piled into the vehicle, and the SUV started tailing them.
“I believe they just made this into a car chase,” Belinda pointed out.
Meanwhile, in the black SUV behind them, the man leading the team sent the photos he had taken of Belinda
and Kristopher from behind to Jessa, along with a message. “A woman suddenly appeared out of nowhere. How
should we deal with her?”
Jessa frowned at her phone, then showed the photos to the woman beside her. “Take a look at these, Cathy. That

“Belinda.” Cathy murmured the nand scrutinized the photo. Only her back was shown, and the lighting was
a little dim, but the height, the figure, and even the hair... Who else could it be if not Belinda?
“It seems she is really close to this college student.”
To sneak into a boys’ dormitory in the dead of the night just to rescue him... Not only that, but the way they were
fleeing in the pictures made them look like a pair of star-crossed lovers.

Cathy's lips curled into a sneer. Kristopher was so fixated on Belinda that he kept calling her non the night
of their divorce, long after he had hammered at the club. How would he react if he found out that Belinda was
seeking out another man this late at night?
“Cathy,” Jessa called out in a voice that was barely above a whisper. “My men are asking if we should call it off.
For one thing, their target jumped into a car, which made the pursuit all the more difficult, especially once they
left the campus. Moreover, there's now another person involved. We paid them only to capture one person,”
Jessa reminded her.
Cathy thought about it for a moment. Her smile was devious when she said, “I'll pay more. Tell them to hit the
target's car. If the crash doesn’t kill those two, it should at least cripple them to sdegree.”
Hearing Cathy's words, Jessa stood rooted to the spot. “Cathy, but...” Hadn't their initial plan been to confront
the person spreading vicious rumors about Cathy online and teach them a lesson? Why were they now scheming
about orchestrating a car accident?
Cathy’s gaze hardened as she stared at the image of two figures on her phone. “Isn't this the perfect chance?”
she questioned sharply. “Kristopher still harbors feelings for Belinda, even post-divorce. He's going out of his way
to throw a birthday party for her. If it hadn't been for Belinda, | wouldn't have been so humiliated at the Summit
Hotel...”
