Chapter 303:
His words momentarily extinguished Cathy's warm smile. She pursed her lips, then glanced at the waiter. “In
that case, I'll have the caramel latte.”
After the waiter left, Cathy turned to Kristopher with a look of curiosity. “When did you have the caramel latte
here?” She winked at him and added, “Was it during a t| wasn’t around, and you visited here alone, thinking
of me?”
Kristopher offered a non-committal smile, his gaze shifting towards the distant sign of Nawrin University, his
expression growing thoughtful. Indeed, he had been to this café before, but he hadn't been alone.
Back then, Kristopher had just emerged from a half-year-long vegetative state, awakening from a deep coma and
resistant to any changes in the outside world. Each day, he would sit stubbornly in his wheelchair, refusing to
stand, interact, or communicate, often showing temperamental and even hysterical reactions.
At the time, the person he resented the most was Belinda, who had married him while he was unconscious. Yet,
she was also the one who showed him the most patience. Despite his resistance and angry outbursts, Belinda
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇthad persistently wheeled him to this very café, right near Nawrin University, always recounting tales of her
student days there. She shared her journey from being seen as a simple country girl to slowly adjusting to urban
life. Her diligent efforts paid off as she made close friends and earned the respect of her peers.
Her stories were cliché and mundane, but she would often beclost in her memories, her laughter filling the
air as she recounted tales of old friends and past experiences.
At first, Kristopher was dismissive, frequently cutting her off with biting sarcasm, convinced that she was beyond
any reason.
But over time, her persistent sincerity, evident in the sparkle of her eyes, began to sway him. Eventually, not
only did he listen, but he also began to join her willingly, sipping her favorite caramel latte as she repeated those
sstories.
Though hesitant to admit it, her vibrant energy genuinely affected him. Under its influence, he started to accept
himself as someone who had been seriously ill and began to embrace the world that had nearly forsaken him.
The road to recovery, relearning, standing tall again, and regaining control of the Cox Group was steep.
In this journey, Belinda and her stories played a crucial role. There was even a twhen he thought spending
his life with someone like Belinda wouldn't be too bad.
That was until he discovered her true motives and the reality behind her steadfast presence. From that point on,
their interactions were purely obligatory, devoid of any deeper connection.
He never returned to this café, and, over time, grew to dislike the taste of caramel latte.
“Kristopher?”
Noticing Kristopher lost in thought, staring distantly at the university campus, Cathy's brow furrowed in
annoyance as she called his name.
Snapping out of his reverie, he offered Cathy a smile. “Aren’t you going to showaround?”
Her face showed a trace of discomfort. Back in the day, she had prioritized fun over her studies and failed to
pass the entrance exams for any standard university, let alone the globally recognized Nawrin University.
Four years ago, in a bid to convince Kristopher that she was his savior, she had gone to great lengths to craft a
convincing but fake Nawrin University diploma.
Despite her best efforts, a fake would always remain a fake.
