Chapter 65:
Cathy’s eyes widened in shock, and she instinctively wanted to refuse.
“No, I..."
Before she could finish her sentence, the man beside her sneered, his lips curling as he reached out and placed
his hand on her shoulder, his gaze casually flicking toward Madisyn. “What's the bet?”
Her eyes widened even further. She instinctively looked to Kristopher for support.
“Kristopher...”
“Cathy,” Kristopher said, his brow furrowing slightly. “At the hospital, the doctor mentioned it might be good for
you to get back into ssports you enjoy to help ease your anxiety and unease. Racing was something you
used to love and excel in.”
As he spoke, his eyes shifted coldly toward Belinda, who sat in the race car, absorbed in her phone. A trace of
iciness crossed his expression. “Even though she can drive, she’s just an amateur.”
Belinda, having grown up in the countryside, likely had little experience with racing. Even if she was driving now,
she had probably only recently learned, and she certainly couldn't match Cathy's skills.
Gazing into Kristopher’s determined eyes and hearing his convincing tone, Cathy felt tears welling up.
She didn’t know the first thing about racing!

“That's right, Belinda really is an amateur,” Madisyn chimed in, barely containing her amusement. She raised an
eyebrow, glancing at Cathy. “Since Miss Miller is such a pro, racing against Belinda should be an easy win, right?”

Cathy turned pale.
She wanted to back out, but at that moment, all eyes were on her and Kristopher, who was looking at her
expectantly...
She anxiously bit her lip and glanced toward Belinda in the distance. Belinda remained seated in the driver's
seat of the race car, her eyes locked on her phone, her brows knitted together in apparent concern.
Maybe Kristopher was right.
Considering Belinda’s background... even if she could race, she was just a newbie.
Despite her unfamiliarity with competitive racing, Cathy had been driving luxury cars since she was old enough
to get a license.
She might not have had the edge over others, but she certainly wouldn't fall short when compared to this
country bumpkin, Belinda! With this thought, Cathy nodded emphatically. “Fine, I'll race her!”
Madisyn’s smile was infectious. “Fantastic! I'll go see what Belinda wants to bet. Think carefully about what you'll
ask from her when she loses.”
With those words, Madisyn walked toward where Belinda was.
Kristopher watched her go, then turned to Cathy with a slight frown. “Just don’t go overboard with the bet.”
Cathy followed Madisyn’s path with her eyes and grinned. “Don’t worry, Kristopher. I've got this.”
Allen, overhearing their confident banter, arched an eyebrow. He was intrigued by Belinda’s reputed prowess.
Could this Miss Miller truly be as skilled as Belinda?
Inside the race car, Belinda’s expression was serious as she read a message from her doctor.
“Miss Nelson, they've offered 500 million to secure the entire batch of medicine. If you match their 500 million,
they'll back off. Can you manage that?”
The number “500 million” seemed to echo in her mind. She sighed deeply, closing her eyes.
For someone like Kristopher, with immense wealth, such a sum was trivial. But for her, it was an overwhelming
amount.
It felt as though the universe itself was conspiring against her, denying her the medication she needed to fight
her illness, as if hastening her demise...
“Belinda!”
The eagerness in Madisyn’s voice snapped her out of her reverie.
She quickly hid her phone and regained her composure. “Yes, what is it?”
“Kristopher has challenged you to a race with Cathy. The stakes haven't been set yet,” Madisyn explained,
eyeing Belinda curiously. “You know you won't get much from the divorce. Why not use this as a chance to win
more from him? Maybe fifty million?”
Belinda’s thoughts flickered back to the doctor's daunting message. She gave a wry smile and responded, “Fifty
million seems insignificant, all things considered. Why not 500 million?”
