Chapter 90:
Danilo shook his head, uncertainty clear in his voice. “I'm not sure. Miss Miller is quite elusive and always
guarded. However, her glowing cheeks and lively tone suggest she’s probably alright.”
As he spoke, Danilo pursed his lips, adding, “Her boyfriend was probably worried about her; he even took her to
Peace Hospital for a check-up. Just yesterday, there was buzz among the hospital staff about how Mr. Cox truly
looks out for Miss Miller.”
Belinda offered a slight smile in response, simply saying, “Yes.”
In Kristopher’s eyes, every strand of Cathy’s hair held value. To him, Belinda seemed to matter far less.
At that moment, Danilo’s phone buzzed.
He glanced at the incoming text, his brow furrowing as he let out a resigned sigh.
Reading his expression, Belinda reassured him, “Go on, if you need to handle something. As you heard, my
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtdivorce is canceled today. I'm not going anywhere. Take care of your business.”
Danilo’s frown deepened as he slowly admitted, “I do have something urgent to take care of... But...”
He hesitated for a moment before a thought struck him, prompting a relieved exhale. “I know, I'll have my
roommate look after you. He's not busy.”
Danilo suggested, reaching for his phone. As soon as he dialed, a brief busy tone gave way to a man’s crisp
voice on the other end. “Hey, what's up?”
“Fred, can you doa favor?” Danilo blurted out, urgency in his voice. “I'm helping a patient at Peace Hospital.
I'll text you the details soon!”
A light chuckle cthrough the phone. “Sure, I'm on my way.”

Once the call ended, Danilo turned to Belinda, trying to reassure her. “My roommate, Fred, will take care of you.
He's not medically trained, but he’s strong as an ox. He'll manage just fine.”
With Danilo so set on the arrangement, Belinda saw no point in objecting and nodded in acceptance. “What's his
nagain?”
“Fred Schmidt,” Danilo replied.
A crease formed between Belinda’s brows as she mulled over the name. It sounded strangely familiar to her.
Thirty minutes later, when Belinda caught sight of Fred clad in light blue sportswear standing in the hospital
ward, she suddenly realized why his nhad seemed so familiar.
Was this not the scollege guy who had shared drinks and dance moves with her and Madisyn at the bar just
a few nights ago?
Fred recognized Belinda immediately.
After quickly suggesting that Danilo should leave, he shut the ward's door with a smooth motion and flashed a
smile. “It seems fate keeps bringing us together. | didn’t expect to bump into you here.”
“What a coincidence,” Belinda muttered, her smile tinged with discomfort.
Back at the bar, Fred had been relaxed and lively, a demeanor that hadn't seemed out of place at the time. Now,
in the quiet of the ward with just the two of them, a palpable tension filled the air.
Unlike Belinda, who was clearly uncomfortable, Fred seemed completely at ease. He strode over to the bed,
pulled up a chair with casual confidence, and sat down. He grabbed a banana from the bedside table and peeled
it while chatting like they were old friends. “What's up with you? You don’t look too good.”
