Chapter 115: Change
Chapter 115: Change
(Elena Blackwood’s POV)
After we had walked sdistance, Jane glanced back and leaned closer to me. “Who was that? It sounds like he
did something terrible to betray your trust.”
| considered how to explain. “It’s not exactly betrayal, it’s just...” | turned to look at Jane. “If someone
approached you, took care of you like a protective older brother, but you eventually discovered he had ulterior
motives and was just using you for his own agenda, what would you do?”
Jane hadn't considered such a scenabefore, but she could understand the pain it would cause. “I'd stay as far
away from that type of person as possible!”
| smiled in agreement. “That's exactly what | think too.”
| was determined to stay as far away from the people and conflicts of the Northern Territory as possible.
As night approached, | emerged from my shower and suddenly received a text message from Shadowpeak
Rehabilitation Center.
David's room had been upgraded to a luxury suite.
| was puzzled by this unexpected development. Thinking of a possible explanation, I tried calling Adrian
Whitmore.
But after several attempts, his phone remained busy - perhaps he was occupied with pack business and didn’t
have his device nearby.
| walked to the living room, retrieved the business card from my purse, and settled on the sofa before dialing
the facility.

“Hello, | just received notification about David Blackthorne’s room upgrade, but | didn’t arrange for this
service.”
The staff member seemed surprised by my call. “You don’t know about this? We were informed it was arranged
by a high-ranking Alpha from the Northern Territory. | don’t have the authority to inquire about
specific details, but it must be someone you know!”
The staff member had said “high-ranking Alpha,” not specifically mentioning Adrian Whitmore. That meant
Adrian hadn't arranged this upgrade.
But besides Adrian, who else would have both the authority and motivation to.....
| subconsciously tightened my grip on the phone, a sinking realization forming in my mind about who might be
responsible.
The next day, | requested a half-day leave and took a taxi to Shadowpeak Rehabilitation Center.
Before departing. | had mentally prepared myself for the possibility of encountering Marcus
But when | actually saw the imposing figure sitting on the suite’s sofa, casually reading a medical journal, I still
couldn't maintain my composure.
Marcus seemed to have anticipated my arrival, closing the journal and looking atwith eyes that held at faint
smile “Have you had breakfast yet?”
“Your disappearance from Riverside City was indeed staged,” | stated flatly.
Marcus rose and walked towardwith predatory grace. “Does that mean you were concerned about my
wellbeing?”
| deflected his question with my own accusation. “So what exactly are you trying to accomplish now? Breaking
your promises to me, and using David as leverage to manipulate me?”
y response was exactly what he had expected from his former Luna.
My
The Alpha chuckled darkly. “You're free to visit him whenever you wish. | won't restrict your access to your
foster brother”
The unspoken implication hung heavy in the air - while | could see David, Marcus now controlled the terms of
that access, giving him exactly the leverage he needed to keepwithin his reach.
(Sophia Rivers POV)
In the Northern Territory, | was forced to move out of the luxurious Moonhaven Estate and could only afford a
modest apartment in an older residential district.
In critical moments, even Nathan Sterling's calls went unanswered, leavingincreasingly isolated
Marcus knew everything about my schemes but hadn't severely punished me, which meant my status as Oliver's
mother still provided sprotection. After all, | had known Marcus for ten years.
Marcus wasn’t as cold and heartless as outsiders believed him to be.
But seeing the stark contrast in our living situations- my son Oliver recovering in the luxury of the Blackwood
estate while | was relegated to this shabby apartment-filledwith bitter resentment.
Now | couldn't even see Oliver regularly. If Oliver really admitted that | had caused his injuries, | might
access to him completely!
| bit my thumbnail anxiously. Did | really have to return to that manipulative relationship with that p**+**1?
No, there had to be other options available.
Just then, my phone rang. Irritated, | didn’t bother checking the caller ID and answered curtly. “What is it?”
The voice on the other end was unfamiliar. “Hello, is this Ms. Sophia Rivers?”
My tone immediately becwary. “Who is this?”
The caller continued professionally. “Hello, I'm Professor Andrew Kelly's research assistant. Do you remember
the neural research paper from our previous discussion?”
My expression changed instantly, and my attitude becmuch more accommodating. “Of course | remember.
How can | assist you?”
The assistant’s voice carried excitement. “We heard that you were the anonymous author of that groundbreaking
research published a decade ago. Professor Kelly is extremely impressed with your work. Would Ms. Rivers be
interested in joining our advanced neurological therapy program?”
| was momentarily stunned, then a triumphant smile spread across my face “Of course I'm interested!!
Chate 115 Change
would be honored to participate”
After ending the call, | clutched my phone tightly, my eyes gleaming with renewed hope.
| knew there was always a path forward for those clever enough to find it. Instead of wasting ttrying to
manipulate males, it would be far better to firmly establish myself with Professor Kelly and gain his professional
trust!
Once | achieved fame, fortune, and greater academic recognition, would Marcus still choose Elena over me?
With this thought fillingwith excitement, | hurried to my bedroom to prepare for this new opportunity
