Chapter 66: The Trap at Moonhaven Estate

Chapter 66: The Trap at Moonhaven Estate

(Patricia Blackthorne’s POV)

Richard was already furious when he saw the message on our phone. His face turned red with rage as he

read the words again.

“Il never let this rumor-monger go!” he shouted, his hands shaking with anger.

But when he saw that the address was also in Moonhaven Estate, he was stunned. His expression shifted

from fury to confusion.

“Moonhaven Estate?” he whispered, his voice cracking. “Why would someone there want to meet us?”

| felt a chill run down my spine. Something about this felt wrong, like we were walking into a trap.

“Richard, maybe we shouldn't go,” | said, placing my hand on his arm. “This could be dangerous.”

But Richard’s anger had consumed his reason. “No! | need to know who's spreading these lies about Elena!”

He grabbed his coat and headed for the door. | had no choice but to follow him.

“If you're going, then I'm coming with you, | declared firmly. “I won't let you face this alone.”

The drive to Moonhaven Estate felt endless Richard gripped the steering wheel so tightly his knuckles turned

white

When we arrived at the estate, another message appeared on our phone. The notification sound made us

both jump.

“Second floor of the building adjacent to the shops. Moonstone Café, Terrace Overlook,” | read aloud.

Richard parked the car with jerky movements. “Let’s get this over with.”

We climbed the stairs to the second floor, our footsteps echoing in the empty stairwell. The Moonstone Café

cinto view its terrace overlooking the estate grounds.

On the Terrace Overlook, we saw a young woman sitting with a small boy. The woman had her back to us, but

something about her posture seemed familiar.

As we approached, the woman turned around. | immediately recognized her face.

“Sophia Rivers,” | breathed, my heart sinking.

Richard stepped forward, his voice shaking with rage. “Did you send that message?”

Sophia smiled coldly, her eyes glittering with malice. “Yes, | did.”

She gestured to the empty chairs across from her. “Please, sit down. We have so much to discuss.”

Richard remained standing, his fists clenched at his sides. “What do you want from us?”

Sophia tilted her head, her expression mockingly innocent. “How is David doing? Still in his coma?”

Richard's face turned purple with fury. “How dare you ask about my son after what you've done!”

| quickly stepped between them, trying to calm the situation. “Richard, please. Don’t let her provoke you.”

| turned to Sophia, my voice steady despite my fear. “David has already paid the price for what happened. What

more do you want?”

Sophia laughed, the sound sharp and cruel. “What | want is simple. | want everyone to know the truth about

Elena.”

She leaned forward, her eyes burning with hatred. 1 want them to know she’s nothing but a mistress who

destroyed my family.”

Richard exploded with anger. That's a liel Elena is not a mistress/”

Sophia continued, her voice rising. “Marcus and | have a child together! Elena interfered in our relationship!”

| felt my patience snap. “You're the one who's mistaken, Sophia. Elena is not the mistress here. You are.”

Sophia's confident expression faltered slightly. “What are you talking about?”

| took a deep breath, preparing to reveal the truth that would shatter her delusions. “Elena and Marcus are

mated. Legally mated,”

The words hit Sophia like a physical blow. Her face went pale, and she gripped the table edge.

“That's impossible,” she whispered, her voice barely audible. She was still resisting the reality spoken out from

my mouth.

“Your relationship with Marcus, even with a child, would be illegitimate,” | continued. “Do you dare make that

truth public?”

Sophia stared atfor a long moment, her mind clearly racing. Then she began to laugh, a hysterical sound

that sent chills down my spine

“Mated,” she repeated, her voice breaking. “He chose to mate with her”

Her laughter grew louder and more unhinged. “All this time, | thought... | believed...He cheated me!”

“No...everything should be mine... she whispered, her face twisted with rage and despair.

Richard and | exchanged glances. It was tto leave before this situation escalated further.

“We're done here,” Richard said firmly, taking my arm. “Con, Patricia.”

As we turned to leave, Oliver suddenly began crying loudly. The sound was piercing and desperate.

| turned around just in tto see Sophia grab the child roughly. Her face was contorted with madness.

“If I can’t have Marcus, then no one can!” she screamed.

To my horror, she lifted Oliver and pushed him toward the edge of the terrace. The boy's terrified screams

filled the air.

“Stop!” | shouted, rushing forward. “Don’t hurt the child!”

But Sophia’s grip on reality had completely snapped. She held Oliver over the railing, her eyes wild with

desperation

“This is all Elena’s fault!” she shrieked. “Everything is ruined because of her!”

| reached out desperately, trying to grab Oliver before it was too late. “Please, Sophia! He's just a child!”

But Sophia released her grip. Oliver plummeted from the second-floor terrace, his small body falling through

the air.

The surrounding bystanders screamed in horror. The sound of their terror mixed with Oliver's cries as he felt

Sephia immediately rushed down the stairs, her movernerits frantic She reached Oliver's crumpled form and

gathered him in her arms

“My baby!” she walled, her voice filled with fake anguish. “Someone help my baby!”

When Richard and | reached the ground floor, Sophia was already performing her act. Tears streamed down her

face as she cradled the injured boy.

“They pushed him!” she screamed, pointing at us with a shaking finger. “The Blackthornes pushed my son off

the terrace!”

The crowd turned on us immediately. Their faces filled with disgust and anger.

“How could you hurt a pup?” someone shouted

“Monsters!” another voice called out.

Someone threw their coffee at us, the hot liquid splashing across Richard's shirt. He stumbled backward, his

face pale with shock.

“We didn’t do anything!” Richard tried to explain, his voice cracking. “She’s lying!”

But the crowd wouldn't listen. They had already decided we were guilty.

Richard suddenly clutched his chest, his breathing becoming labored. “Patricia... | can’t breathe...”

My heart stopped as | recognized the signs. “Richard! You're having a heart attack!”

| tried to support him as he collapsed against me. His face was gray, and sweat beaded on his forehead

“Someone call an ambulance!” | screamed desperately.

Sophia continued her performance, crying over Oliver's still form. “Please, someone help my son!”

The sound of sirens filled the air as emergency vehicles arrived. But there was only one ambulance, and it

could only take one patient.

Marcus appeared suddenly, his face dark with concern. He took in the chaotic scene with sharp eyes.

“What happened here?” he demanded.

Sophia immediately threw herself at his feet. “Marcus! The Blackthornes pushed Oliver off the terrace! He's

badly hurt!”

Marcus's expression darkened as he looked between us and the injured child.

| fell to my knees beside him, my voice breaking with desperation. “Marcus, please! Richard is having a heart.

attack! He's your father-in-law!”

Sophia screamed louder, “Richard’s faking it! He's trying to escape responsibility for hurting Oliver!”

Marcus hesitated, his golden eyes conflicted. The paramedics waited for his decision.

“When will the other ambulance arrive?” he asked tersely.

“Twenty minutes, the paramedic replied.

Chapter 66 The Trap at M

Marcus looked at Richard's gray face, then at Oliver's broken form. After what felt like an eternity, he made

his choice.

“Save the pup first,” he said firmly.

My world shattered. | watched helplessly as the paramedics loaded Oliver into the ambulance.

Sophia grabbed Marcus's arm. “Please cwith us! Oliver needs you!”

Marcus nodded without hesitation. “I'll follow the ambulance.”

As they drove away, | was left alone with Richard. His breathing grew more labored with each passing

moment.

“Help!” | screamed at the crowd. “Please, someone help us!”

But no one moved. They all believed Sophia’s lies about us hurting Oliver.

Richard’s hand found mine, his grip weak and trembling. “Patricia... tell Elena... | love her...”

“Don’t talk like that!” | sobbed. “The ambulance will be here soon!”

But Richard's eyes were already growing dim. His breathing becshallow and irregular.

“Take care... of our pups...” he whispered.

His hand went limp in mine. Richard Blackthorne, my beloved mate, was gone.

This day, my sky fell.
