Chapter 67: The Truth Unvelled
Chapter 67: The Truth Unveiled
(Elena’s POV)
Faced with this devastating news, | went straight to the hospital morque. As soon as | entered, | saw Patricia, my
adopted mother, her face ashen, guarding the freezer, refusing to move no matter how Dr. Samuel
Fletcher tried to persuade her
“Mrs. Blackthorne, please,” Dr. Fletcher said gently. “You need to rest. Standing here won't bring him back.”
Patricia's eyes were hollow, staring at the metal door. “I can’t leave him alone. He's afraid of the cold.”
Dr. Fletcher looked atwith sympathy, suggesting that as a family member, | might be able to offer some
comfort. After the doctor left, | approached the freezer step by step.
Looking at the middle-aged man lying inside, a face | knew so well that | both loved and hated, | almost lost
control.
| had seen death before, in the institute, every day pack members died from illness, accidents, or failed healing
attempts. But seeing my own family die before my eyes was another experience and feeling entirely.
My chest trembled, and | took deep breaths to calm myself. Tears streamed down my face like beads.
“Mom, what exactly is going on? You're lying to me, right? To stopfrom severing the mate bond, Father
deliberately did this to makecompromise, right!*
“Tell me, please answer me!”
My breakdown brought Patricia back from her grief. She stared blankly at me, who was crying, and her dry lips
slowly opened, her voice hoarse.
“This is real.”
| stopped crying, standing stiffly for a long time. After a moment, | calmed all my emotions.
ooo.
“What exactly happened?”
Seeing Patricia’s silence, | grabbed her shoulders. “Mom! Tellquickly, what happened!”
“It... It’s Sophia Rivers.” Patricia's face dimmed, and she toldeverything that had happened.
The meeting at Moonstone Café. The accusations aboutbeing a mistress. Sophia’s revelation about
Oliver being Marcus's son.
The confrontation on the Terrace Overlook. Oliver's fall. The crowd turning against them.
Richard's heart attack. The single ambulance. Marcus’s choice to save Oliver first.
| listened to everything expressionlessly, not speaking for a long time. Until | turned to leave, Patricia grabbed
me
“Elena, don’t go, we have no evidence, we can’t fight her!”
My voice was hoarse. “Evidence, there will be.”
I left.
(Sophia Rivers’ POV)
Oliver Rivers had fallen from the building, and after emergency healing, he was out of danger and quickly

| tucked Oliver in and looked at Marcus, saying, “Marcus, | was really scared to death. Fortunately, Oliver is okay,
otherwise | would regret it to death.”
Marcus looked at the IV drip bottle, his expression cold and indifferent. “How did they end up with you?”
“They were there for Elenn.” | walked towards him, my eyes red. “They said Elena mated with you, and cursed
He withdrew his gaze and said faintly. “She was chosen by Elder Margaret.”
| hid the hatred in my eyes, thinking that the old she-wolf was the most obstructive! “I didn’t know you were
mated, and... no wonder Elena would misunderstand me.”
My face remained innocent. “Marcus, if something had happened to Oliver, I'm afraid...”
“It won't.” Marcus frowned, interrupting me.
| lowered my eyes. “Oliver is innocent, he doesn’t have a complete family, nor a father. Now that this has
happened, | really don’t know what to do. Maybe, | should take Oliver away from the Northern Territory.”
“Sophia.” Marcus called my name, his handsface complex, his eyes showing a hint of guilt. “You and
Oliver don’t have to leave.”
| said with difficulty, “But...”
“Til talk to the Blackthorne family about it, as for Oliver Marcus paused for half a second, rubbing his watch with
his fingertips, looking directly at me. “I will temporarily send him to the Blackwood family, he is relatively
safe there.”
| lowered my head, hiding a trace of joy in my eyes. “Marcus, thank you.”
After Marcus left, | restrained all my smiles and picked up my phone to dial a number. “That ambulance didn’t
make it to the scene, did it?”
The other party said, “It didn’t make it, the person had already died when it arrived.”
“Very good.” | walked to the window and smiled. “Go back and thank your boss for me.”
(Elena’s POV)
After handling Richard's funeral procedures, | wanted to send Patricia hand met Nathan Sterling downstairs
at the Institute Main Entrance.
Nathan got out of the car and walked towards us, his face becoming serious. “I heard about the changes in your
family.”
| was stunned for a moment, unable to say anything.
Nathan nodded to Patricia and said softly, “Aunt, please accept my condolences.”
Patricia just nodded, her expression still dull and empty, as if only an empty shell remained.
“Nathan.” | said hoarsely, “I'll send my mom back first.”
0g
“I'm worried about your current state, I'll drive you.”
| looked at him and nodded. “Thank you”
Nathan drove the two of us to the Blackthorne Pack Grounds. A neighbor saw this scene, unaware of the
Blackthorne family’s changes, and thought Nathan was my mate.
“Hey, Patricia, is that your son-in-law coming to see you?” the neighbor called out.
Nathan's action of helping Patricia out of the car paused when he heard the word “son-in-law.
Patricia couldn't hear anything at the moment and ignored the neighbor's question. | was only concerned about
sending Patricia back to rest and naturally didn’t pay attention.
Seeing the mother and daughter ignoring her, the neighbor muttered, “What a depressing expression, like
someone died!”
| helped Patricia into the Blackthorne Family Hall, with Nathan also helping. After Patricia returned to the
bedroom, she finally opened her mouth.
“I want to be alone.”
| was worried about her, but this change happened so suddenly, and she did need to be alone at this time.
“Mom, I'm just outside the door, callif you need anything”
| exited the bedroom.
Nathan looked atin the living room. “How is your mother?”
I I shook my head. “She's fine.”
“Elena, don’t be too sad, if there's anything you need from me, just say it.” Nathan approached, raising his hand
to put it on my shoulder. “Don’t bottle it up either.”
Hearing these words, my heart suddenly felt even more uncomfortable.
“Cry if you want to.”
As soon as he finished speaking, | covered my lips, trying not to cry too loudly. Nathan put his arm around me
and patted my back to comfort me.
Three days later, Richard's funeral was kept simple, but apart from Grace Blackthorne, who was genuinely there
to see him off, the rest of the Blackthorne family tried every means to swallow Richard's inheritance.
The Elder Blackthorne Couple and Thomas Blackthorne’s family colluded, and even before the Memorial Hall,
they humiliated Patricia.
“If my son hadn’t mated with you, would he have died so early! You are just a jinx! You still want to Occupy the
Blackthorne family’s things!”
Patricia didn’t say a word from beginning to end, just standing there quietly
| stepped into the hall. “Enough!”
Everyone looked at me..
“When my father was alive, did you ever think of helping him? Now that he’s gone, the house and business have
becyours instead? My father’s first seven days haven't even passed yet, are you still human?”
B=5)
The other two didn’t respond, bet Vivian Blackthorne laughed erit Pichard still a Blackthorne family meber even if
he moved out? Besides, I'm also thinking about you. Richard is gone, now that you are an orphan and a widow,
you have to return to the Blackthfamily, right?”
| sneered Return to the Blackthorne family? is it to let my mother go back to serve you? Why did my father move
out, don’t you know very well?”
The reason why Richard chose to move out was to escape the oppression of the Elder BlackthCouple
and his elder brother
| looked at the quilty Elder Blackthorne Couple, and smiled mockingly. “As your son, you favor Uncle Thomas, just
because Uncle Thomas mated with you a daughter-in-law with a little family background to act as a facade
the Blackthorne family, right? if it weren't for my father giving you a grandson, and you didn’t want the
Blackthorne family to have no descendants, you probably wouldn't even cto see him die here today, right?
Perhaps feeling a little embarrassed, the Elder Blackthorne matriarch also revealed her true colors. “What
qualifications do you, a junior, have to question me! So what if that’s the case? He was born to me, | can do
whatever | want!”
“Today, the things that belong to my son, you have to give them, whether you want to or not!”
| slapped the Elder Blackthorne matriarch in the face. The slap was so sudden that everyone hardly reacted.
“Elena, are you crazy! Thomas Blackthorne looked at me.
“Im just crazy.” | pulled out a silver dagger, pointing it at them with a smile. “Whoever comes to take it, I'll stab
them!”
Thomas's face changed slightly. “Elena, let's talk nicely, why use a silver blade?”
“Why be afraid of a young girl?” Vivian didn’t believe it. “Does she have the ability to stabto death?”
“Did Aunt Vivian forget my profession?” | deftly played with the dagger in my hand. “I'm a healer, | can ensure
that | don’t stab you to death, but let you experience what it feels like to be worse than dead. Besides, there
are no cameras here, your mutual confessions can’t make a complete evidence link. Or should I start with
Aunt Vivian first!”
| picked up the dagger and was about to stab Vivian
Vivian panicked and dodged, her face pale “Crazy, she’s crazy!”
“Go, leave first Thomas was afraid of causing a real death and didn’t dare to stay any longer, and the group
quickly left.
Grace Blackthorne turned her head and glanced at Elena and Patricia, sighed, and went out the door.
The memorial hall was finally quiet.
“Elena.” Patricia calledfrom behind, her eyes red. “It's Mom who has implicated you?”
| put down the dagger and walked towards her. “Don’t say that, you have giventhe grace of upbringing.
there’s nothing to implicate.”
“But Mom shouldn’t continue to hold you back.” Patricia held my hand. “You can go find your biological
parents, you should have a better life, a more complete life.”

| was stunned for a moment, silent for a moment, and held her back. “Let’s talk about these things later. Mom,
after this is over, let's take David and leave the Northern Territory”
“Leave the Northern Territory?”
“Actually, | applied for a job transfer two months ago, I'm going to Riverside City, and | won't be coming back
then.”
Patricia was surprised. “You had already planned to leave, so, you severed the mate bond with Marcus?”
| nodded. “Yes, | just wanted to sever the mate bond with Marcus, that’s why | applied for a job transfer.” Patricia
was thinking painfully. “As your mother, knowing that you are suffering in the mating, I still made you endure it
for the sake of your brother...” Patricia suddenly slapped herself hard.
“Mom!” | stopped her. “What are you doing!”
“It’s Mom who is sorry for you, Mom deserves to die!” Patricia wanted to kneel down to me, but | hugged her.
“Don’t be like this! Mom, I'm not blaming you!”
Patricia cried in my arms, feeling terribly guilty.
Nathan walked into the memorial hall. “Did something happen?”
