Chapter 4

Yolanda felt a pang of guilt. “How about we all grab a meal later?” she suggested.

Megan looked even more surprised. “Your husband actually lets you work now? Last twe talked on the

phone, you said you weren't going to work anymore.”

The question hit a sore spot, and Yolanda felt a little embarrassed.

There was no way she could air her marital mess in front of everyone. Rich people cared about appearances-

dirty laundry was never to be shown in public. That was one of the rules she had learned from the Grant family.

So, Yolanda only smiled. “I can’t just stay at hall the time. By the way, what's his nagain?”

She still couldn't believe someone this talented had wasted two years here.

Before Megan could answer, the young man spoke up. “lan Foster.”

He glanced at Yolanda, then quickly looked away.

Yolanda curved her lips. “Alright, I'll remember that.”

Megan whispered, “What's wrong with you? Wasn't it you who brought him here back then? How could you

forget his name?”

Yolanda felt awkward-she honestly couldn’t remember. The past few years, she had poured all her energy into

Charles, doing everything she could to care for him. She hadn't paid attention to anyone else.

Taking a deep breath, she kept her smile. “Megan, mind if we order takeout at your place later?”

Megan froze for a few seconds before nodding. “My place is tiny. You're used to living like a rich lady-just don’t

look down on it.”

Megan was blunt, not mocking. But Yolanda realized that after being cooped up for two years, she really had

fallen out of touch with the world.

As they headed outside, she asked, “Was it lan’s idea to turn this place into a boxing room?”

“That's right. Jan doesn't like going out, and since the top floor is all ours, we figured we might as well. Young

people, you know-they’ve got energy to burn,” Megan said.

lan followed beside her, casually pulling on a cap. He didn’t say much, but his striking looks

When they reached Yolanda’s car, Megan opened the passenger door and gestured to lan.

He stopped, glanced at Yolanda, and didn’t move.

Yolanda smiled. “Go ahead and sit. We'll probably be seeing a lot of each other from now on.”

His lashes lowered as he slid in without a word.

The passenger seat had always belonged to Charles, so out of habit, Yolanda leaned over and buckled lan’s

seatbelt for him.

lan’s whole body went stiff, his fingers curling slightly on his knee. Then he turned his head toward the window,

silent.

It was only after fastening it that Yolanda realized lan wasn’t Charles. He didn’t need her fussing over him at all.

She pulled back, started the car, and set the GPS for Megan's place.

Megan was lively. She asked Yolanda, “Have you watched any of the shows lan’s been in? In the past two years,

he’s done quite a few. Though he hasn't had a leading role, he’s gained sattention. Our studio’s been

surviving on him alone.”

Yolanda felt even more embarrassed. If she had known the stuhad such a talented guy, she would've

introduced him to sdirectors.

And ever since getting married, she hadn't followed the entertainment industry at all.

lan stayed quiet, his head lowered. He didn’t hear Yolanda’s answer, but he could tell she hadn’t seen any of

those shows.

Megan gasped tically, “Oh my God, you haven't even been watching TV or movies? Yolanda, didn’t you

study this in college? How could you give it all up after getting married?

“Your husband must really love you to let you give up something you're so passionate about.”

Yolanda gripped the steering wheel tighter. She felt helpless, her heart heavy, not knowing

what to say.

They stopped at a red light, and just as she was about to change the subject, another car pulled up beside hers.

Through the half-lowered window, she saw Charles with Sophie.

Sophie sat on Charles's lap, tilting her head to say something while stubbornly leaning in to
