Chapter 498
Joshua stood by the window, his back to her, quietly talking on the phone.
Allison padded over, wrapped her arms around him from behind, and rested her cheek against his back.
He tensed for a split second.
Joshua ended the call with a quick, "Alright, that's it for now," then turned and pulled Allison into his arms.
"You're back."
"Mm-hmm," she replied softly.
She melted into his chest, her voice barely above a whisper. "Joshua, you're so good to me."
He laughed, that deep, magnetic sound she loved. "You're just figuring that out?"
"Will you always be this good to me?"
"Of course."
Allison looked up at him, her eyes shining like stars, never looking away from his.
Something shifted in Joshua's gaze-then he leaned down and kissed her.
The kiss was deep, hungry, full of longing.
Outside, the night sky stretched endlessly over the ocean.
The glass kept out the sound of the waves, making the world feel like it belonged to just the two of them.
Moonlight spilled softly across the room.

Joshua moved in behind her, fitting perfectly.
A broken gasp slipped from her lips.
He kissed her from behind, desperate and wild.
Allison lost herself, swept away in his rhythm, rising and falling like she was drifting in the tide.
After two days by the sea, Allison was back at the law firm, already buried in work. That morning, after finishing
a stack of case files, she made herself a cup of tea. The office door opened-Watson stepped in.
"Allison, are you busy?"
She looked up. "What's up?"
Watson glanced down, hesitated. "I wanted to talk to you about something."
She caught a flash of disappointment in his expression. "Is it about work?"
He shook his head. "No."
Her tone cooled a little. "I don't want to talk about personal stuff during work hours."
"But it's almost impossible to see you alone after work," Watson said, his voice tight. "How did you and Joshua
get back together so suddenly?"
Allison's face went blank. "Watson, we're just friends. That question's out of line."
Watson's eyes dimmed. "Allison, you know how | feel about you, don't you?"
She frowned, silent for a moment.
"I had a feeling, but you never said anything, so didn't think much of it," she said seriously. "But since you're

Her words left no room for doubt.
Watson's shoulders sagged.
