Chapter 179 Leaving LA for Abroad Kelvin knew that any further submission in front of his Grandpa would only invite fiercer opposition from the Davis family to his marriage to Penelope.

There could be no retreat. He had to win.

Gazing out into the night, Kelvin contemplated. A blissful marriage had to win the family's blessing.

Yes... he would fight for Penelope's and his happiness.

There would ca day.

The next day at 8.00 a.m.

As Kelvin hoped that he would hear soft footsteps approaching from outside his ward.

It was Penelope.

He could tell from the sound of the steps - it had to be her.

Yet Penelope hesitated at the door for a long tbefore she pushed it open. She had been brought here by a driver first thing in the morning, and no one had explained anything to her.

She had no idea what had occurred.

But Penelope could guess there had been sshowdown between Kelvin and Grandpa Davis.

One was keeping her from Kelvin while the other was insistent on seeing her.

"Cin; what are you dawdling out there for?" Kelvin's voice emerged. "Do I need to cand get you?" Startled, Penelope quickly walked inside.

He better not make any sudden moves! Kelvin's gaze never left her. Wherever she went, his eyes followed.

"What's so urgent that you draggedhere first thing in the morning?" Penelope said indifferently. "You've got caregivers. You don't need me." She had to be colder and more ruthless if she was to resist being swayed by Kelvin's tender approaches. Kelvin replied shyly, "...I wanted to see you." "Oh." Penelope stood at the foot of the bed, her eyes darting everywhere but at him.

Seeing her this way, Kelvin squinted, "What did Grandpa tell you?" She tersely replied, "Nothing." He probed, "Don't lie to me." "I'm not lying," Penelope retorted. "I've been at The King Manor." Kelvin began speaking, "I'll let you go back to the company. Let you be free again. But for now..." For now, he wanted her by his side more than anything. But Kelvin left those words unsaid.

She was on guard against him, and he felt it.

Kelvin wondered how tough Penelope's heart could be. Could it be that even risking his life did nothing to move her? The ward fell silent with Kelvin's calm, so much so they could hear the wind outside.

It was only broken by Ryan's arrival. "Mr. Davis, here's the paperwork for today... Mrs. Davis, you're here too," he greeted.

Penelope acknowledged, "Yes, Ryan." "Just in tthen, let's have breakfast together," Ryan suggested. "Mrs. Davis, if you wouldn't mind taking care of Mr. Davis!" Ryan had such discernment that he set down the items and left promptly.

Penelope arranged the breakfast and handed him the fork.

Kelvin didn't take it.

She pushed it a bit closer to him.

"...You still hate me, don't you?" Kelvin asked.

She simply answered, "Yes." "What can I do for you not to hateanymore?" he asked.

"Unless that child... comes back to life," she stated, her words were short.

That was an impossible task. How could the dead be revived? Penelope was severing any chance of mending their bond.

"There could be another one..." She cut Kelvin off before he could finish, "Yes, there could. Another pregnancy, another child, but the one we lost will never cback!" Her emotions surged, and her voice grew louder without her realizing it.

"Moreover, Kelvin, why should I have a child for you? "Did you ever cherish me? Do you even know what love is? The hurt and insult you've dealtI remember it all! "My mother is still not awake. The doctors say the special medication was given a month late. If it had been earlier, she wouldn't be like this, at risk of never waking up.

"Remember the diamond bracelet? I couldn't fix it, so I made it into a pendant and put it around my mother's neck. But you could've given it back to me! Instead, you chose to smash it with your hands!" The pain was too much to articulate.

Penelope spoke her mind, her eyes unwittingly brimming with tears.

Kelvin reached out to wipe away her tears, but she dodged his touch.

"I think Grandpa Davis was right; we're toxic to each other. It's either do or die, with no future or fate." Penelope dropped those words and turned to leave.

"Penelope!" he called out to her. "Cback!" But she was resolute, not looking back.

Outside, Ryan stood there in shock and said, "Mrs. Davis, you..." "I'm leaving," Penelope said, head down, pacing swiftly.

Ryan tried to defend Kelvin by explaining, "Mrs. Davis, Mr. Davis genuinely cares about you, deep down. Last night, Grandpa Davis showed up, and they had a huge fight. Mr. Davis didn't budge an inch because of you, and that's why he cout on top." She cut him off, "I don't want to hear that." Penelope walked away without looking back.

Exiting the elevator, she was suddenly flanked by two bodyguards.

"Mrs. Davis," the greeted.

Penelope announced, "I'm going back to The King Manor." Grandpa Davis's people never give up.

Penelope got into the car, sitting in a daze.

When she cto her senses, she realized they weren't headed to The King Manor.

"Where are you taking me?" Penelope demanded.

"Mrs. Davis, the boss wants you to meet Fiona," the bodyguard said. "Please relax; we mean no harm." Meet Fiona? She never asked for that.

The car twisted and turned, gradually leaving the city with fewer cars and e pedestrians. Finally, it stopped in front of a luxurious vacation home.

Penelope was puzzled-how could Fiona afford to live here? "Mrs. Davis, please cin," the bodyguard said politely.

Penelope entered with suspicion.

The living room was empty but immaculate and opulent. Suddenly, footsteps sounded from behind.

She turned around and saw Grandpa Davis.

"Penelope, do you remember our private agreement?" he asked.

"Yes," Penelope nodded. I'll leave Kelvin. I never planned to stay forever." "That's great!" Grandpa Davis said excitedly.

Penelope added, "But we need a detailed plan. Kelvin isn't easy to fool.

If fail to The ontent is on novelenglish.net! escape, it'll be even harder to get away from him later on." Grandpa Davis spoke with gravity, "I can't wait any longer!" It was clear that Kelvin was deeply attached to Penelope.

Any further delay would only make him more dependent on you! So, Grandpa Davis decided that the tto act was now.

"What?" Penelope caught on immediately, "You mean you wantto go now?" He replied, "Yes." "What about my mother?" she asked in disbelief.

They had agreed that she would take her mother with her! But now Mrs. Cooper was in a coma, needing round-the-clock care from caregivers; it was impossible to leave L.A.! "I'll handle it, you go ahead," Grandpa Davis insisted. "Leave L.A., go abroad; the farther, the better!"
