Chapter 252 Grace's Passing Penelope stood there in a daze, the doctor's voice echoing in her ears, watching a group of people in white coats surrounding Grace.

This wasn't the first tshe'd seen such a scene.

But this time, she felt that there would be no miracle.

Three minutes passed.

The doctor withdrew his hands.

The machine made a sound, and the screen turned into a straight line.

Grace's heart had stopped.

The ward was eerily quiet, so quiet that everyone could hear their heartbeats.

"We did our best," the lead doctor said, stepping back.

Then, they bowed.

The other medical staff also bowed to Grace's body.

A moment of silence.

Penelope couldn't accept this reality as she watched! She frantically pushed the nurses aside and rushed forward. "It's impossible, keep going, hurry up! Save her! There's still time!" Penelope grabbed the machine. "Hurry, get my mom's heartbeat back! You can do it! Try again; maybe her heartbeat will cback!" "Please try again, one more time. Don't give up on her; she's my mom." Penelope shouted hoarsely.

Her legs gave out, and she knelt in front of the doctors, clutching their white coats tightly, wrinkling them.

"I'm sorry, we really did our best," a doctor replied, "The resuscitation failed, and the defibrillation couldn't successfully restore her heartbeat. So she's gone." "How could she suddenly die! She was fine just now, talking clearly; she even had half a bowl of oatmeal this morning!"Penelope couldn't accept this reality.

The Grace who loved her the most had just left her.

Why! The hardest times for the Cooper family were already over, and now they were finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Good days were just ahead.

If only Grace could hold on a little longer, everything would get better.

Penelope could then take her away from LA, and they could start a new life together. "Mom, why couldn't you wait for me? Just givea little more time," Penelope murmured, "Everything was just about to get better." But now? Grace was gone.

She had no mother anymore.

Connor, a man who had lived most of his life, turned to face the wall and cried his heart out! His cries were suppressed and sorrowful! "Penelope," Kelvin stood by the window, backlit.

A sense of powerlessness swept over him, too.

He had used the best medical resources which couldn't save Grace in the end.

Hearing Kelvin's voice, Penelope suddenly looked up, her eyes fixed on him! Her eyes were filled with tears, red- rimmed, and lifeless, like dead ashes. "Kelvin!" Penelope pointed at him. "You killed my mom!" "I..." Kelvin wanted to explain, but he didn't. On second thought, the Cooper family's situation today was indeed his fault.

Penelope staggered to her feet and walked up to him. "Kelvin, why did you do this to me? From now on, I have no mother. Are you happy now?" "Penelope." "I hate you!" she said through gritted teeth. "Kelvin, I wish you were dead right now! How much more do you want to harm my family? First, my mom, then my dad, and finally me!" "You want us all to die at your hands, one by one, is that it!" Kelvin tightened his lips, feeling as if a knife was cutting his heart.

Grace's death at this critical moment meant that the distance between him and her had grown even wider. She hated him even more! "Mrs. Davis," the attending physician spoke up. "Your mother passed away because her organs failed and could no longer sustain her. This has nothing to do with Mr. Davis." Penelope bit her lip hard. "You're the doctor he hired; of course, you'll speak for him!" "It's the truth," the doctor replied, "During this time, although Grace had been undergoing treatment, taking medication, and using various expensive machines, the results were poor. I also communicated these issues with your father several times." Connor was also a doctor.

He could understand most of the medical data.

Grace's condition had indeed been worsening; her recent good spirits were what people commonly call a "final rally." Penelope looked at Connor. "Dad..." "Penelope, your mother's condition was beyond saving. At best, she could have lived another three months," Connor said hoarsely, having just cried, "But three months would have been good too; we could have spent more twith her." Penelope closed her eyes, tears streaming down.

After a while, she opened her eyes again.

Her gaze was filled with immense hatred! Planning your weekend reading? Ensure you're on nov L5sfor uninterrupted enjoyment. The next chapter is just a click away, exclusively available on our site. Happy reading! "Kelvin, did you hear that?" she shouted his name. "My mom could have lived another three months, but because of you, she died now! Why did you have to show up? Why!"

akto Penelope yelled, "Why were you in the ward? When did you come? What did you say to my mom? Did you provoke her and cause her to get too agitated and her body to fail!"

"When I walked in... yes, I saw her pointing at you! Her last action before vel she died was pointing at you!" "Kelvin, what did you do to my mom!" "Are you trying to do what Fiona did, deliberately anger her? Without you and Fiona, my mom would have recovered! It's all because of you two!" Penelope clenched her fists and pounded on him, venting her inner resentment! But no matter how much she hit him, it wasn't very sensible.

"I didn't anger her," Kelvin replied softly, "Penelope, you can blme, hate me, resent me. But..." "But what? You want to say my mom didn't die because of you? Kelvin, how could you have the face to say that? My family and I are in this situation because of you and your family!" Kelvin opened his mouth but couldn't explain.

A sense of helplessness enveloped him.

He didn't kill Grace, nor did he want her to die, but he caused all of this.

He didn't directly kill Grace, but he was the source of everything.

All of this started because of him! "Answer me!" Penelope pounded his chest again. "Why aren't you speaking? Do you admit it?" But Kelvin could only say, "Penelope, I'm sorry." Even though it was the most useless thing to say, he had nothing else to offer.

"Nathan was supposed to be with my mom there. Where is he?" Penelope asked, "Kelvin, where is Nathan?"

"Now it's you here! When did you come? You knew Nathan was coming, so you rushed over to m humiliate himin front of my mom, didn't you?" Penelope had too many questions, and she was too heartbroken.
