Chapter 360 Rescuing Lucy Lucy needed help right away! "I'm here, Lucy. Get up and get dressed," Penelope said, propping her up. "Hold on, I'll grab your shoes." Lucy nodded, but then her nose started bleeding.

In seconds, the bedspread was soaked in blood, and it wouldn't stop! Penelope's hands shook when she saw it.

"Lucy, tilt your head back! Don't move!" she said urgently.

But the bleeding continued, covering half of Lucy's face in blood.

Penelope tried to steady her hands. "Lucy, don't be scared. I'm here." But she was the one who was terrified.

Lucy lay still, eyes closed, silent.

"Lucy? Lucy?" Penelope's vision blurred, her legs wobbled, and she almost collapsed.

She grabbed her phone to call an ambulance. "Ruby, stay with Sam. I'm taking Lucy to the hospital!" Ruby rushed over, barefoot, and froze at the sight of all the blood. "What happened?" "Fever, nosebleed," Penelope's voice shook. "We need to get to the nearest hospital." She picked up Lucy and headed out. The village had winding mountain roads, and the stone paths were hard to navigate in the dark. But Penelope didn't care; she just needed to get to the hospital.

She didn't know how long she walked, but finally, she saw the ambulance lights. "Here! Over here!" she waved frantically.

The medics jumped out with a stretcher. Seeing Lucy, their faces turned serious. "Please save her," Penelope begged, almost collapsing, tears in her eyes. "She has leukemia, but this has never happened before. I don't know what's wrong..." "Get her in the ambulance!" "Okay." A nurse had to help Penelope into the ambulance; she was so weak.

Penelope noticed her pants were torn and her legs scratched and bleeding. Her shoes were muddy.

But she didn't care.

The ambulance ride was a blur of sirens and bumps, culminating in Lucy being whisked away for emergency surgery.

Penelope was handed a critical condition notice.

"The situation is urgent. Be prepared. Are you her..." "I'm her mother." "Sign here," the doctor explained "We'll start the surgery immediately." Penelope grabbed the doctor's coat. "What's wrong with my daughter? This has never happened before. She's been taking her meds. Why..." "I don't know the details. We need to act fast. If you don't sign, we can't operate." Penelope's hand shook as she signed her name, the letters crooked.

The operating room doors closed, and silence fell.

Penelope slid down the wall, hugging her knees.

Lucy had to be okay! Penelope bit her lip, her body cold and weak. She almost fainted several times.

But she couldn't collapse! Before long, Penelope's lower lip was bleeding from biting it.

The operating room light stayed on, showing no sign of going out.

Penelope thought of the critical condition notice. It weighed heavily on Penelope's heart.

Mommy will save you. We'll find Daddy. His bone marrow matches yours. With his help, you'll get better!" "It's my fault. I delayed, hoping the registry would have a match, and it worsened your condition." Tears fell uncontrollably as she spoke.

She wiped them away with a cold hand.

If anything happened to Lucy, she'd never forgive herself.

"Lucy, hang in there. We'll see Daddy soon." Her voice choked with emotion.

As dawn approached, Penelope felt darkness before her eyes.

The operating room light went out.

She stood up but her vision went black, and she fell heavily to the ground.

The doctor cout and quickly helped her up.

"How is Lucy? Is she okay?" Penelope, dizzy and unable to see clearly, instinctively grabbed the doctor's hand. "Is she out of danger?" "Not yet." She stood there, stunned.

Lucy was still in danger? "We're transferring her to the ICU for two days of observation," the doctor said. "Do you know her medical history?" Penelope nodded. "Yes." "Okay, cwith me." "But I want to see my daughter." Penelope stood at the operating room door, eyes full of pain.

A nurse pushed the hospital bed out. Little Lucy lay there, wearing amm oxygen mask hooked up to an IV, eyes closed and motionless. Penelope's heart broke.

She didn't even have tto kiss Lucy before the nurse wheeled her away.

In the doctor's office, Penelope felt dazed, her face pale.

"Are you alone?" the doctor asked. "No other family members?" "No." The doctor looked at her sympathetically. "You know your daughter has leukemia, right?" Penelope nodded.

"The condition has worsened," the doctor said. "Have you found a matching bone marrow?" "We're looking." "Still haven't found one? That's tricky." Penelope quickly corrected herself. "No, we found one. The child's father's bone marrow matches!"

The doctor said, "That's good. Where is the father? We need to arrange the transplant ASAR: Lucy's condition Ε can't wait. We don't know when it might worsen again!" "Okay, I understand." When Penelope left the hospital, it was already daylight.

The morning sun shone on her, but everything felt bleak.

Twas running out. Without Kelvin's bone marrow transplant, Lucy's life hung precariously in the balance.

If her hesitation caused Lucy's death, she'd be consumed by guilt and regret forever.

As soon as Lucy woke up, she'd take her back to LA to see Kelvin.

No more hesitation! If what happened last night happened again, they might not be so lucky next time.

Having made up her mind, Penelope immediately called Brandon.
