The next afternoon, Allison's phone rang.
The caller got straight to the point, giving her the latest on Reynolds Group.
"Several creditors have filed claims in court. Reynolds Group's debt is now at 1.3 billion."
"Shawn, as the main shareholder, has been abusing the company's separate legal status and his limited liability
to dodge debts. It's hurt the creditors badly. A bunch of them have teamed up and handed evidence to the court,
demanding Shawn be held personally liable."
"All property under Shawn's nhas already been seized by the court. His valuable assets are impounded, and
all his bank accounts are frozen."
"And this morning, Cindy hired a lawyer to draft the divorce agreement."
Allison wasn't surprised.
Cindy had always lived the high life-there was no way she'd stick around now that everything was falling apart.
"Which lawyer did she go to?" Allison asked.
"Patricia from Summit & Vale Solicitors."
Of course. Summit & Vale Solicitors. Allison knew that firm inside out.
She'd resigned right after Lillian invested in Summit & Vale. Then, when the Fisher family cut Lillian off, Joshua
had looked into her finances. The Fisher family's sharp legal team had managed to claw back Lillian's investment
in the firm.
And Patricia? Allison remembered her well. Ms. Wade had a reputation for a terrible temper—she was a storm

cout of her office in tears more than once.
Allison had heard plenty of stories. Patricia had driven off several assistants; most lasted less than a month. The
tougher ones quit after a single day, not even waiting for their paycheck.
Joy, once she got her junior lawyer's license at the firm, wanted to leave too, but she was stuck for a year. That
whole year, she was basically the office punching bag, crying more times than anyone could count.
Thank goodness Joy finally got out-now that she was at Owens Legal Services,
she was all smiles, happy to cto work every day.
Hearing Patricia's name, Allison narrowed her eyes. "Did Grant agree to the divorce? Did they work things out?"
"No," the caller replied. "Last night, Cindy and Grant had a huge fight at the hospital-everyone heard about it.
This morning, Cindy went straight to her lawyer for the divorce papers."
"Then Grant's not going to sign," Allison said. "Cindy will probably sue
for divorce. Keep a close watch on
her side, and letknow
immediately if anything changes."
"Got it."
After hanging up, Allison sat thinking.
If Grant refused to sign, Cindy would definitely take him to court, and Grant would
for sure get himself a lawyer. She couldn't let Cindy win this divorce.

By the end of May, Allison's wounds had healed and she was finally discharged from the hospital.

It was a Wednesday, a regular workday, so Joy and Breanna couldn't make it-
they were both busy at their jobs and couldn't cto the hospital to see Allison
