She said the words out loud, but deep down, she was terrified.
That place was dangerous enough on its own, and now, with Quinn hunting him, what were Jarrod's real chances
of making it out alive?
Panic crashed over her, her heart hammering so hard it hurt.
She refused to accept it.
Watts straightened, looming over her from above. "What's done is done. Why force something that's already
broken? Elodie, it's tto wake up. Men's flaws run deep-you can't change them, can't redeem them. If he's
failed you once, he'll do it again."
He knew Elodie wasn't ready to face the possibility of Jarrod dying out there.
But it didn't matter.
Barring a miracle, the outcwas all but certain.
Elodie didn't want to hear another word. She spun on her heel and headed for the
car.
She'd find Jarrod herself.
She needed to see for herself that he was still alive.
As she stormed off, Watts' smirk faded. He rolled something between his fingers inside his pocket, then strode
after her without another word. Without asking permission, he swept an arm around her waist, hauling her right

She kicked and struggled, but he barely flinched.
Unbothered, Watts marched her back toward the villa.
Elodie was furious, clawing at his collar with both hands. "Let go! Don't touch me!"
Tonight had pushed her to the edge.
She couldn't keep up her usual calm or spar with Watts anymore.
All she wanted was to get away-right now.
She didn't care what schemes Watts was cooking up.
Watts all but dragged her back to her room. He didn't linger or touch her more than necessary; he set her down
by the bed, gazing down at her. "Don't look atlike that. I've already requested a flight route. Tomorrow or the
day after, I'll take you hon a private jet? Who knows..."
He cocked his head, watching her closely. "Maybe you'll be back just in tfor
the Silverstein family's obituary notice."
Even when he tried to sound casual, his words cut like a knife.
Elodie didn't believe him. Still, it stung.
"What do you want from me?!" she shot back, refusing to acknowledge his threat.
Watts narrowed his eyes, shoulders lifting in a careless shrug. “I realized something I really do like you, Elodie.
No lies. No games."
He was the type to say exactly what he wanted, without pretending or waiting around in silence.
That wasn't his style.
He used to blPatricia for making him distrustful of most people. But with Elodie, everything felt different.
For the first time, he understood a little of what Patricia used to feel.
Elodie's face was pale and cold, her
eyes full of scorn. She didn't buy his

Her words were brutal, no mercy, striking right where it hurt.
