Chapter 372 "What the..." Zack was stunned for a moment. "Dexter, can you teleport? This morning, you said you were still in a meeting." Dexter raised an arrogant eyebrow. "What's so difficult about teleporting?" He walked straight to the couch Angela was on and waved a hand in front of her. "Are you alright? You look pale." Angela still looked weak and lifeless as she sat there. Suddenly, something crossed her mind, and she got up abruptly, only to nearly collapse due to weakness in her legs.
Luckily, she managed to grab the couch's backrest just in time.
"What's wrong? Why are you so worked up?" Dexter frowned.
"This flu is spreading fast. There's a high chance people in our company are already infected, but we desperately need manpower right now. I need to find a solution..." "Just sit for now." Exasperated, Dexter pushed her back onto the couch. "I'll have someone find out." He sounded completely natural, as if there was no distance between them.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtAngela, however, felt uneasy about this. "No need. I'll ask Maverick to do it." "Can you not just appreciate someone's kindness?" Dexter took a deep breath, barely holding back his irritation. Angela fell silent. This was just too weird. What exactly were they supposed to be right now? Their relationship was complicated and frustrating. Since she couldn't figure it out, she decided not to bother thinking about it anymore.
Sure enough, seven or eight executives in Celestia Jewels had already been infected, and the number was still rising. During a video conference that evening, Angela saw that many employees were wearing masks and constantly coughing.
Dexter acted quickly. In just a few hours, he had already counted the number of infected employees and worked with Maverick to arrange hospital care for them.
Maverick even called to personally thank Angela for her timely help, saying that things were slowly getting back on track. He assured her that he could manage things on his own for now and encouraged her to take the tto rest.
After hanging up, Angela let out a long sigh of relief. She could finally relax a little now that the weight pressing on her shoulders for so long had finally eased.
Angela's symptoms lasted for four ΟΛΟ days. By the morning of the fifth day, she was finally able to get up. She planned to visit Celestia Jewels, but Zack and the others stopped her.
"Angie, there's something, but I'm not sure if I should tell you." Zack approached her hesitantly, looking a bit awkward.
Angela rolled her eyes at him. "Get to the point." "Alright then." Zack rubbed his nose before pulling out his phone. The screen lit up, displaying a news article. Just one glance at it made Angela frown.
Zayn was getting engaged to Riley? What the heck? What was going on? Angela immediately snatched the phone and scrolled through the article, her expression growing more serious by the second.
Zayn might be indecisive at times, but he wasn't an irresponsible person. Mia was still carrying his child-how could he abandon her and the baby like this? Angela quickly called Mia, but there was no answer. Her concern deepened.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmAs if things weren't bad enough, Joseph fell ill and called Dexter, asking them to return home.
Following a brief deliberation, Angela and Dexter decided to make the trip back.
They quickly booked flights that snight and arrived in Eldmere Gity the next afternoon. The rumors online were running wild, and to make matters worse the Jewell family had already organized the engagement ceremony. Invitations had even been sent to Bamford Manor.
"Angie, I know you and Mia are close, but this isn't something you should interfere with understand?" Lying in the hospital bed, Joseph looked pale, and his voice was hoarse.
e He held Angela's hand, his eyes filled with concern. He clearly hoped she wouldn'cause trouble.
