Chapter 301: Bleak Future (2)
"No." Killian drummed his fingers on the surface of the table. "We will do something. | don’t know what for the
tbeing, but we will. There is no way | am going to let those old fogies in the council think that they can run
us as they want and like." However, he currently had no plan to deal with them. The elders of the council were
too highly protected. If he were to kill them one by one, it would certainly make them wary, and killing them all
together was out of the question. Because there was no way he was going to perform a mass bombing.
"Till then, what are we supposed to do?" Ajax asked as he splayed his fingers on the table. "The witches are not
going to go on a sweet timeout just because we decided to take things slow. They will still hunt down the lycans
and other shifters in the hope of regaining their place in the power pyramid. Staying silent is not the answer to
this question."
"Who said we are going to stay silent?" Killian remarked. Even though he was calm, it didn’t mean that he was
not bothered by what was going on around him. He was enraged. He wanted to tear through those witches for
daring to touch his pack members. His beast wanted to drag the person out and slice them into thin pieces. But
at the moment, neither of them could summon the energy for that.
They couldn't hunt down witches when they needed to stay by Inez’s side. Tracy could say anything that she
wanted, but Killian was not going to trust her.
Her status as a witch was enough to fill his mind with doubts. He didn’t dare to leave Inez alone in the presence
of that witch, who straightforwardly denied that the two of them had imprinted on one another. Unfortunately,
Inez believed her. The memory still brought tears to his eyes.
"Then what do you have planned?" Ajax asked. He straightened up, his eyes landing on Killian, whose hair was
longer than he usually wore it. His expression tightened a bit further as he met his alpha’s gaze head-on. "The
witches are planning a war, Kill. If the council continues with their stuck-up attitude, the death toll will certainly
reach a new high. Even higher than the last twhen we went against the dark witches." Back then, the council
stood by the shifter community, but this taround, they were determined to act neutral for the sake of saving

"The council has stopped us from making a formal statement," remarked Killian, twirling the pen in between his
fingers. "They never said that we cannot let it slip, anyway, once the rumours started to swirl. There is nothing
that the council can do; it is bound to becdifficult for them to pin the blon us."
"But how?"
"Make the pack attend the funeral of the shifter who was injected with the vampire venom," said Killian. "His
body—shall be on display for everyone to see."
The council had stopped him from talking about the brutal death of his pack member, but they never stopped
him from holding a public funeral and letting the pack members see the corpse of the man who died. For he
knew that it wouldn't help much even if the rumours started to spread, but it would still help a few.

With the matter sorted out, Killian arched his arms over his head. Trying to soothe the ache in his muscles. He
then headed out of the main lodge; as per his usual schedule, he was supposed to do a perimeter check around
the territory, but instead of heading over to the boundary, he went to the lodge where Inez lived.
"Have you seen Inez?" He asked, his voice sounding hopeful despite the tension in his shoulders.
"No, alpha. She went somewhere with the redhead who cto see her earlier," replied the guard who had been
patrolling near the lodge.
Killian sighed in disappointment. A sense of discomfort settled over him. "Of course she is." They had barely
seen one another. If he didn’t know better, he would have thought that the woman was avoiding him.
Maybe she is—you know how she loves to overthink all the time.
"I don’t think that she is avoiding me," said Killian. It was the nature of their positions. With his heart set on Inez,
it was only a matter of tbefore she took over the position of the Luna. The two of them had their own issues
and problems that they needed to deal with, which couldn't be counted as her avoiding him. Right?
Yeah, right. He could feel his beast rolling his eyes at him. | bet that she is back to losing her mind because of
what that witch told her about her powers. Maybe she thinks that we are attracted to her because of her powers
