Chapter226
Fresh snow blanketed the road, knee-deep drifts piled everywhere after the heavy snowfall.
“Reenie, | remember how you loved snow most when you were little,” Zoc murmured.
Maureen linked arms with her. “Mhm, because snow meant Christmas Holidays were coming. Holidays meant
new clothes and good food.”
Zoe didn’t tell Maureen she’d always hated Christmas Season. One holiday long ago, Maureen had been taken
back to the Ramirez Family and never returned.
Her misty eyes gazed into the distance as she released a heavy sigh.
“Reenie, | want to see you settled with someone before | go.”
Maureen froze mid-step, clutching her tightly. “Don’t say that! You're not going anywhere. Never...”
Her voice cracked, the lie tasting bitter as Gareth’s words echoed in her mind.
The doctor said the elderly woman might not survive through this Christmas Season.
Zoe gently patted Maureen's hand, letting the false comfort linger.
“I know. | still need to see Roy and Ethan grow up.
But first, | want to see my Reenie find someone who truly loves her.”

Zoe looked back toward home. “Geoffrey isn’t your right person. He's like this now because he lost his memory
and can't see.
If he recovers his memory and sight, he’ll becjust like before.”
“I know.”
Maureen nodded. “I won't soften.”
“Mhm.”
Zoe gripped her hand tightly. “That Gareth boy is good. | can tell he likes you. If possible-"

Chapter226
Maureen cut her off, shaking her head.
“Mrs. Ingram. | don’t want to be with anyone now. Gareth’s wonderful, but | know | don’t love him.”
“I won't marry someone | don’t love. That wouldn't be fair to him either.”
Zoe choked up, unable to offer any more comfort.
Her Reenie was perfect in every way-except being too straightforward. Once she set her mind on something or
someone, she never wavered. Never learned to be selfish just once.
They hadn't walked far before Zoe felt tired. Maureen supported her as they headed back.
Neither noticed the elegantly dressed woman standing in the distant corner.
A young male assistant followed behind her.
He bent forward. “Madam, shall | ask Ms. Ramirez to cout?”
Noelle slowly shook her head. “No need.”
A daughter who called a nanny “Mom,” achieved nothing noteworthy, and had hearing impairment? She didn’t
want such a child anyway.
Maureen had no idea her biological mother had specifically cto Small Town today and seen her living in that
shabby brick house.
Noelle hadn't contacted her either-she’d only sought Maureen out because of the eight billion dollars Attorney
Thomas held.
Days earlier, Noelle had received a call from Andrea overseas, saying Maureen wasn’t dead and had returned to
Karaville to collaborate with Corporate Giant.
So Noelle cback to the country. She’d thought Maureen would be different now, but instead found her
divorcing Geoffrey in court, looking so down and out.
Seeing Maureen living in a rundown place and being so close with just a nanny, Noelle had her driver head back
to Karaville.
On the road, she called her son Adrian: “I saw Maureen today. That eight billion definitely isn’t hers. Make sure
you get your hands on that money.”
If Maureen really had eight billion, why would she live somewhere so shabby?

731 Vouchers
Noticing the fresh bruise on his forehead, Maureen softened: “Remember to wash the dishes after eating.”
“Can | buy a dishwasher?”
Geoffrey suddenly asked.
“No.”
Although Wayne would secretly cover to do housework anytime, sometimes when Maureen was present, he
couldnt get in.
Before Maureen could voice her refusal, Geoffrey added, “Get a robot vacuum too. And hire stemporary help
if possible.”
