Chapter 304: The Day | was Mistaken as a Murderer
Touching the ruined and run-down furniture inside the mansion, Inez sucked in a breath. Her gaze turned as she
looked around the entire living hall; though no more memories surged forth, there was still a nagging sensation
within her body. The painful tug of recognizing this place, but not being able to remember it.
"Do you remember anything else?" Scarlet asked Inez.
Inez shook her head and replied with a shake of her head, "I cannot remember anything else. It has been so
many years; | —I can’t remember much about this space." She couldn't help but take a few more looks around
the room. Walking over to the wooden cabthat was half burnt, she pulled it open and peered inside it. She
noticed a few cobwebs at the corners of the cabwith spiders dangling from them.
Her eyes flickered to one side when she caught something gleaming. It was a brooch. A rather delicate and
exquisite brooch, with marks of the past and the present left on it, but despite that, it was still intact. Inez
reached out and pulled it out of the cabinet. Clutching the cold metal in her hands, she tried to remember
something, anything related to her father, but she couldn't.
At least she was sure about one thing. This was where she had lived with her parents, and her mother was no
omega, as she had claimed to be. While most of the memories didn’t return to her, Inez had at least an answer
to one of her questions.
‘The magic here is more concentrated,”
Nerina spoke. She had been silent, most probably sniffing for more traces of magic around the mansion.
Do you know what kind of magic it is? Inez asked her with her brows furrowing slightly, as she couldn't feel or
notice any difference around her.
Something dangerous—I can feel the remnants of the spell. It’s not something that | have felt before, but the
traces that are left behind are... Nerina went silent, and Inez didn’t poke her either for further answers because
she knew that her siren was not going to speak unless she wanted to.
"Do you want to stay and look around?" Scarlet asked as she wiped a trail of dust off the table that was sitting on
the other side of the room. She turned and looked at Inez before saying to her, "Can you recall something else?"
"It’s not easy." Inez furrowed her brows, feeling frustrated. Not at Scarlet but at herself; she wanted to remember
more about her father, but she couldn't recall a single thing. It was as if everything, every single memory of her
father, had been wiped clean, other than a few lingering ones.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtScarlet’s expression softened. She said, "I am sorry for pushing you for answers. It's just... It's weird."
"I know."
Their mother had always been an omega as far as their memories could reach, and now all of a sudden, the
woman who was supposed to be an omega turned around and becan alpha female. What happened? How
did it happen? They didn’t have an answer for that.
But—
It doesn’t change the fact that she kept my father trapped and made him serve other shifters and alphas,
thought Inez. She felt exceptionally lightheaded when she realised the horrors her father might have gone
through at the hands of her mother. The bruises on her father’s body, the ones she saw in the memory that she
recalled - even the memories of those bruises made her disgusted. How could her mother allow such a
monstrosity to take place? Even if she had no love for her father, she had a child with him. Did it not hurt her
when she saw her man with someone else? Or was she simply that heartless?
And what happened to her father? Did he really run away like her mother told her, or was that another lie that
she made up? Inez couldn't help but wonder.
At first, Inez could not feel anything. Even the voices in her head and around her had becdistant. She turned
around on her feet and walked past Scarlet, who followed her when she sensed that there was something amiss
with Inez.

Questions—after questions kept surging in her heart, and yet Inez knew that she couldn't react whimsically.
There was too much at stake.
"Inez," Scarlet could sense the anger that was bursting through Inez’s very skin. "You need to calm down."
