Chapter 230 Actions Speak for Themselves Because of Dad's words, Elsa stayed quietly at hfor a while. Even Jack didn't seem to be opposingas much, though it all felt a bit suspicious.

Then, one day, Jack threatened to fire a veteran employee from the design department.

I quickly had my assistant look into it. Soon, the assistant returned with the details. The employee had made a few typos in the design documents.

When Jack found out, he claimed the company couldn't afford such careless employees. He was willing to offer a high severance package just to get rid of the employee. Upon hearing that, I immediately headed for the design department.

As expected, Jack was already sitting in the design department manager's office, angrily berating the manager for trying to protect the veteran employee.

When he sawenter, a flash of discomfort crossed his face. "What are you doing here?" I scoffed and took a seat beside him. "I just wanted to see who's unlucky enough to be your latest target." The manager, who had been pleading for the employee, now looked up in curiosity.

Jack cleared his throat and turned to the others in the room. "You can all leave for now. I need to have a word with Ms. Brown." Even though they were reluctant, everyone obeyed and left the room. After closing the door, Jack glared atwith anger. "What do you mean by this?" I smiled. "Oh, nothing. I just want to see what you're really up to." Staring directly into his eyes, I voiced my suspicions and said, "You don't really think that firing a veteran employee in the design department will open the door for your precious Elsa to join, do you?" Jack's eyes immediately shifted, confirming my guess.

I stood up from my seat and slowly walked toward him, my eyes fixed on him. He met my gaze defiantly with a raised chin, clearly unaware of his foolishness.

For the first time, I laughed at his stupidity. "Do you really think that by paying enough compensation, you can just make someone leave and bring Elsa in without consequence?" His expression turned cold, but there was a hint of unease in his eyes. "Why do you care so much?" I shrugged nonchalantly. "If this was only about you and Elsa, I wouldn't waste my tmeddling in your mess. Do you even realize that what you're doing is putting Brown Group under scrutiny?" Jack's expression flickered with confusion.

I let out a cold chuckle and asked, "Did you cup with this brilliant plan yourself, or did Elsa put the idea in your head?" He didn't answer, but his silence spoke volumes.

"Of course, only Elsa could cup with something this underhanded." I nodded knowingly.

"You want to force this employee out, but have you even considered the consequences? What if the employee exposes your actions to the public? Everything you do represents Brown Group. If you abuse your position like this, what does that say about the company as a whole?"

I sighed, disappointment lacing my tone. "I always knew you weren't the brightest. But I didn't think you were this clueless. Elsa is using you, Jack. Π When are you going to get that? If didn't think this plan works, she's the one who benefits. But if it fails, you're the one who'll take the fall." Hearing that, Jack's face turned pale. Disbelief was written all over it.

After a long pause, he finally muttered, "She's not like that.

of like that. She just wants to help out at the company. Why do you always assthe worst about her?" With that, he stormed out of the office, slamming the door behind him.

I watched his retreating figure and let out a resigned sigh.

The design department manager walked back in, looking cautious.

I waved a hand dismissively. "It's fine. Tell everyone to get back to work."

With that, I didn't linger any longer. I left immediately, letting my actions speak for themselves.
