Chapter 1485:
“What do you want? Just spit it out,” Melvin shot back, his tone cold as ice.
“Did you even read the message | sent you?” Turner snapped, his words sharp and biting. “Didn't | tell you to
cback and meet the girl | found for you? Ignoringnow?”
“My life has nothing to do with you,” Melvin replied flatly.
Turner instantly blew up. He had always been overbearing when it cto Melvin, and hearing that tone pushed
him over the edge. “What kind of attitude is that? I'm your father!”
Melvin clamped his lips shut. He didn’t say anything, but the inner resistance was building.
“You're off dating someone and don’t even tell me. How am | supposed to explain this to Watson Fuller?” Turner
scoffed with thinly veiled contempt. “His daughter Jayda is still waiting for you to cmeet her.”
“I told you—I'm not coming back,” Melvin said again, unmoved. That place held nothing but unpleasant
memories. If there was anything remotely worth remembering, it was that one street where he first met Freya.
“You ungrateful brat!” Turner snapped, his voice rising as he started threatening again. “If you don’t cback,
I'll have Jayda blast you online for being a terrible son. After all these years, have you even—"
The line went dead. Melvin had hung up on him mid-sentence.
Jessica, who had been sitting right there the whole time, reached over and held his hand tightly. “You've still got
me.”
“I'm fine,” Melvin replied, his voice cool and emotionless as always. “I'm used to it.”
“He doesn’t behave like a father at all.” This was the first tJessica had seen a parent make so many

Melvin gave a faint smile and ruffled her hair gently.
Still thinking about the call, she hesitated for a second before asking, “What did he mean by blast you online?”

“That girl is apparently sinfluencer with a decent following,” Melvin explained, recalling what Turner had
said. “He probably wants her to post aboutbeing a bad son.”
“Should we talk to her first?” Jessica asked, a little unsure.
“No point,” Melvin said, his gaze darkening slightly. “It wouldn't help. Most of her content is just bait to ride
