Chapter 1564:

Freya tilted her head. “Was that your mom?”

“Yes,” Kristian said smoothly, hiding the truth.

He knew if Freya realized it wasn’t his mother, she’d feel the need to clear things up.

From their earlier chat, he could tell she didn’t want him to stay single because of her. So, it was better that she

didn’t know.

“Why didn’t you tellit was her?” Freya said, fond of his mother, who had always been kind to her. “I would've

said hi.”

“No big deal.” Kristian shrugged, then added, “Can | take Jesse and Nina to Jeucwell for a holiday weekend?”

“That's their call,” Freya said. “If they're up for it, go for it.”

A warm spark lit up Kristian’s eyes. “Thanks.”

He was grateful for her trust. He appreciated that she didn’t shut him out completely.

“If you get a chance, meet snew people,” Freya said gently, nudging him to date. “There are plenty of great

girls out there.”

“Sure.” Kristian nodded, though his heart wasn't in it.

“It’s late. You should rest,” Freya said, running out of things to say, as small talk wasn’t her strength.

Kristian didn’t push to keep talking.

With a quiet nod and a mixed expression, he followed her upstairs, each heading to their room.

As Freya's door closed, a shadow of emotion passed through Kristian’s eyes. He buried it deep and stepped into

his room alone.

His phone buzzed twice. A message from the earlier caller: “Callback when you're done talking to her.”

Kristian sighed and dialed the number. Sthings needed to be said clearly.

“All done?” The woman's voice was light, with a touch of charm.

“Yeah,” Kristian replied, his tone cooler than when he spoke to Freya.

“Why were you with her?” she asked, curious, not upset. “Didn't you tell your mom you two weren't in touch?”

“That was then. Things change.” Kristian stood on his balcony, his voice chilly. “I wasn’t clear enough before, so

letbe now...”

“Stop!” The woman cut him off sharply.

“Listen, Brielle,” Kristian said, his tone steady but cold.
