Chapter 1591:
Jacob sat in his study for a long while.
He heard Lawrence's steps fade into the distance. The sunset burned low outside his window, and still, he didn’t
move until darkness fell completely.
For the next two days, Jacob stayed home.
He didn’t go out. Didn't read. Couldn't concentrate. For the first time, even his books failed to distract him.
By the third night, he locked every door and window with purpose—as if determined to cut off even the chance
of Lawrence coming back.
But people are full of contradictions, and Jacob was no exception. Part of him wanted Lawrence not to return, to
sever everything cleanly. Yet another part longed for him to canyway—and be stopped at the door.
It was a classic case of someone who hadn't truly moved on but had already fallen again—deeply, helplessly.
That night, Jacob tossed and turned.
When he finally drifted off, he dreamt of Lawrence sending him a message, his tone pitiful and teasing. “You're
too cold. If you don’t leave a window open next time, | just might break in through it.”
He read the message in the dream. He didn’t reply.
When he awoke, he instinctively checked his phone. Nothing. No messages. No calls.
Lawrence hadn’t come. Hadn't reached out. As though the man had vanished from his world entirely.
Jacob couldn't deny the hollow ache in his heart—but he didn’t contact Lawrence either. Instead, he dropped the

Feeling restless, Jacob went to visit Freya and Ellis.
Freya noticed something was off. “What's wrong?”

“Nothing,” Jacob said, sipping his tea casually.
Freya and Ellis didn’t press. They simply waited—giving him the space to speak when he was ready.
Just then, Nina ran over with a candy in her hand and jumped into Jacob's lap.
“Have scandy!”
Jacob smiled and brushed her hair fondly.
Nina's bright eyes sparkled as she looked up at him.
He was so gentle, so good-looking—she liked him very much.
“My teacher says we should talk about what makes us sad,” Nina said. “Then everyone can help fix it together.”
