Chapter 156 Lucas didn't care in the slightest.
Evelyn calmly looked away as well. They were so calm, it was as if they were strangers.
"Blake, what's going on here?" When Jessica approached with her dress lifted slightly, she stared at Blake holding Evelyn's wrist, surprised. There was a hint of curiosity in her eyes.
He immediately released his grip. "Why didn't you tellin advance? I could've picked you up." Only then did Jessica smile and walk over to wrap her arms around Blake's waist. Leaning into his embrace, she said bashfully, "I didn't want to tire you out. You were already clinging tohalf the night..." Evelyn lowered her eyes mildly, listening to this blatant show of possession without any reaction. It had nothing to do with her.
Jessica, however, turned to Evelyn with a smile and asked, "Can you stay a little longer tonight? There's a big scene coming, and we need you here." Evelyn looked at her calmly. "What is it?" Jessica blinked. "You'll find out later tonight." She clearly wanted to leave it as a surprise. Then, acting coy, she tugged on Blake and led him in another direction. "My dad just arrived. Csay hi." Blake wrapped his arm around her waist and didn't object. Even so, he glanced at Evelyn with an unreadable expression before he left.
Evelyn ignored it.

Evelyn looked up.
As expected, Lucas and Tiffany were seated in the center of the first row.
Every event had its own hierarchy, but Evelyn didn't care about such things. It was just that from her position, every tshe looked up at the stage, Lucas and Tiffany were right in her line of sight.
The two times she glanced up, she saw Tiffany speaking to Lucas, while he leaned down slightly to listen. She didn't know what was being said.
Lucas smiled faintly as he gave Tiffany a sidelong glance. His eyes were gentle and focused.
Evelyn's expression remained neutral as she looked past them toward the stage, but Justine didn't miss their interaction and muttered through gritted teeth, "Is this a place for them to be lovey-dovey? Should we just bring them a bed?" Evelyn simply gave Justine's hand a light squeeze to comfort her. She herself had no extra emotions to share. This charity gala was a high-level event attended by nearly 200 prominent figures. All the auction items had been donated by celebrities or institutions, with proceeds going entirely to help children in remote mountain areas or to fund special medical aid.
It was a meaningful event.
Although Evelyn was mainly here to find someone, she also planned to contribute to the charitable cause. She intended to bid on one or two items she liked as a gesture of goodwill.
The auction items were brought on stage one after another.
From her vantage point, she saw clearly as Lucas handed his bidding paddle to Tiffany.
He planned to have Tiffany make all the decisions on his behalf while he simply paid for whatever she wanted.
She smiled gracefully and accepted it without hesitation, raising the paddle frequently. One item after another was sold.
She made the highest number of purchases and was easily the center of attention.

Justine set her wine glass down with a thud. "Anyone who didn't know better would think Tiffany's already Mrs Grant. She hasn't even secured her place yet, and he's already giving her the full treatment! Evie, don't feel sad."
From her perspective, Evelyn had poured her heart and soul into that three-year relationship. Even if the marriage had ended, the feelings she invested were real. It was like having her heart roasted over an open flame.
Evelyn exhaled slowly and said quietly, "I'm fine." Aside from the bitter irony that Tiffany was Millie's daughter, she had stopped caring about the rest ages ago.
"It's like putting lipstick on a pig!" Justine scowled and glared at the front row, grumbling under her breath.
Most of the auction items had already been shown, but none had caught Evelyn's eye.
She was about to settle for something random when the m glamorous auctioneer smiled and announced, "Next up, a natural emerald cabochon diamond ring! Starting bid: 12.9 million dollars!" Evelyn looked up with no particular expectations. However, the moment she got a clear look at that ring, her expression changed instantly.
