Chapter 323
Cherry called before | could finish.
“Tay Tay, Ms. Thompson is here to see you’
“Tell her I'm occupied today and won't be returning to the office,” | replied calmly. “She should leave.”
“She's refusing and is sitting in your office. Should | call security to escort her out?”
“That won't be necessary. Let her stay.” | doubted the guards could handle Cameron. If things escalated, they'd
only disrupt the company’s operations.
“Okay...” Cherry sighed before hanging up.
| didn’t dwell on it. Cameron only ever cfor money, and | had no intention of giving her any-it would only
lead to endless demands.
As | turned to leave, | unexpectedly ran into someone familiar... an enemy, in fact.
Candy stood arm in arm with an older woman who bore a striking resemblance to her-likely her mother.

Two sharply dressed car salesmen flanked them, enthusiastically showcasing the various models on offer.
So, they were here to buy a car too. What a coincidence.
“Taylor?” Candy's surprise was evident when she spotted me.
The older woman beside her asked, “A friend of yours?”
Candy leaned in and whispered something in her ear. The woman's expression changed instantly as her gaze
settled on me.
“What's so special about her? She's just a pretty face.” She made no effort to lower her voice, her lack of
manners, on full display.
| smiled lightly and replied with equal nonchalance, “It’s a shspeople pretend to be someone they're
not, even with ‘just a pretty face,’ and still end up utterly unremarkable.”
“What?!” Candy's eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets.
“Why the hostility?” | continued, my tone light. “I wasn’t even talking about you. Unless... my comment struck at
nerve?”
| turned to walk away after shutting her down, but she stooped so low as to extend her foot, attempting to trip
| couldn’t believe it. Since when did so-called rich ladies like her have no sense of decency?
Without hesitation, I kicked her foot aside.
“Ow!” Candy yelped, bending over to clutch her leg.
“Oops, my bad. Something got in my way while | was walking.” | said, offering an apology that sounded sincere. |
even reached out as though to help her up.
“Don’t touch me!” she screamed, her face flushed with pain
| couldn’t blher. After all, | was wearing genuine leather boots with a hard toe cap and sole.

She was in a long skirt, so that kick must have been excruciating on her delicate skin.
“Wipe that smug look off your face, Taylor! Your family’s ruined! Did you think clinging to the Kenways would
guarantee you a smooth ride?” Candy barked:

| stopped in my tracks, my expression turning cold.
Before | could respond, a familiar voice sounded behind“Is something wrong, Taylor?”
Candy’s head shot up, her face shifting from shock to panic as she saw Soren approaching
“Soren? What are you doing here?” she blurted out, then quickly added, “Are you... Are you buying a car for
her?”
Soren cto stand beside me, barely glancing at Candy. His gaze settled on the older woman instead.
“Madam Frieze,” he greeted.
Madam Frieze...
So, she really was Candy's mother.
No wonder they both carried the sarrogance and posture.
But Soren’s distant and formal tone made it clear they weren't close.
Then why did Candy call him Soren as if they were?
