Chapter 330
I was in a hurry, so | hung up before Soren could say anything, even though he had been silent.
When | turned around, | saw Edward watchingwith a complicated expression. He looked like he wanted to
say something but hesitated..
| put my phone away. “Let's go. Didn't you just say it’s our burn?”
Edward followed behind me. “Do you think a relationship with such an Imbalance in status and wealth can ever
have a happy ending, Taylor?”
Recognizing the sarcasm in his words, | shot back without hesitation, “Do relationships where both people are
equal in status and wealth always end well? It’s like saying should find a man with average but honest looks if |
want stability.
“But in reality, a short and poor man can still cheat, so why shouldn't | just find someone tall, handsome, kind,
and rich instead? At least that way, I'd admire him and be proud to introduce him to my friends.”
Edward was at a loss for words, his expression caught between shock and discomfort, as if unfamiliar with my
retort.

| couldn’t be bothered with what he thought.
Just knowing he had indirectly caused Soren to be upset withmade him even more of an eyesore.
At the counter, | handed in my documents and turned to him. “Where's your paperwork?”
He pulled out a folder and placed the documents on the counter.
| had half-expected Edward to pull sstunt to make things difficult, but to my surprise, he didn’t.
Everything went smoothly, and the property transfer was completed without a hitch, officially severing all
financial ties I had with him.
As we retrieved our documents, Edward suddenly said, “How about dinner tonight? You know, since I've
cooperated so nicely?”
Without hesitation, | rejected him. “Do you really think we can just sit down and have a pleasant meal together
after everything we’ve been through?”
“Why not? Everything | did was to keep you by my side, while you just found someone better and decided you.
didn’t wantanymore.”
Wow...
Even now, he was still trying to manipulate me-still trying to shift the blame.
| shook my head, laughing. “Think whatever you want. Either way, it’s best if we never cross paths again.”
His lips pressed into a thin line as he sat in his wheelchair, his entire demeanor shrouded in forlornness.
But to me, it looked like yet another performance.
| gathered my documents, ready to leave, when he suddenly asked, “When will you issue the letter?”
“I'll ask Ace to handle it tonight. You'll have it first thing in the morning.”
“Alright. Thanks...”

Something about him felt off that day.
Had something else happened to Edith? Was that why their family’s attitude had taken such a drastic turn?
But | had no interest in finding out. Their family’s fate had nothing to do with me.
Perhaps sensing my thoughts, he held out the paper bag again, his tone unexpectedly gentle. “Just take it. | have
already bought it and don’t like sweets anyway.”
“Alright. Thanks.” This time, 1 accepted it and turned to leave.
As | walked down the hallway, | casually placed the paper bag on top of a trash bin | passed.
| didn’t toss it in outright-just set it there so the drink wouldn't spill and create extra work for the janitors. But |
was certain Edward saw what | did.
Not that | cared how he felt about it. Not in the slightest.
It wasn’t until much later that | found out the real reason Edward had changed so drastically-why he had
suddenly becso cooperative...
