Chapter 1192: "Mommy." Joy snuggled into her neck, her voice a little raspy. "I'm not scared. And you shouldn't be either." Hearing what Joy said, Hadley froze for a moment. Her chest tightened, and tears welled up in her eyes. She quickly looked up and blinked away her tears to keep them from falling. "Alright. Neither of us should be scared." "Mommy." Joy raised her tiny hand and held out her pinky. "Pinky promise?" Hadley smiled through the tears and hooked her finger around her daughter's. "Pinky promise." "A pinky promise means we have to stick to it forever!" "Yes," Hadley said, her voice catching. She pulled Joy into a hug and held her close.
Everything was in place.
Brady and Joy were taken into the operating room, one after the other.

Denver and Elissa had cby to show support. But once Joy was wheeled in, Hadley gently urged them to go back to whatever they had to attend to.
Denver's gaze shifted toward Eric, who stood a short distance away.
Since revealing the truth to Hadley about Eric, he hadn't been sure where things stood between them.
Had they reconciled? But now wasn't the right moment to ask.
Denver gave Hadley a nod and did not insist on staying. After all, both of Joy's parents were already here. He wasn't anyone to Hadley or Joy. Staying would only make things harder for her.
"I'll cback in the evening when the surgery's over, then," said Denver.
"I've got a shift later, but I'll stop by after work. Letknow if you need anything," Elissa replied. "Alright. Go on now. Don't be late." Once they left, the waiting room quieted. Only Eric, Hadley, and the two caregivers-whom Eric had hired for Joy and Brady-remained. Hadley sat on the sofa, glancing at the time. It was ten in the morning.

But neither Hadley nor Eric had much of an appetite. They each picked at a few bites and left the rest untouched. Neither of them said anything. They both understood there was no point urging the other to eat.
At one in the afternoon, the doors to the operating room opened, and Brady was wheeled out.
As the donor, he was expected to cout first.
"Hadley." Brady was awake, though still under the effects of anesthesia.
"Brady..." Hadley stepped forward and took his hand. "How/ake you feeling?" "I'm okay... Just really sleepy..."
One of the nurses explained, "His condition is stable. We'll be taking e him straight back to his room."
"Thank you!" Hadley breathed in relief and followed the nurse as they m wheeled Brady away.
