Chapter 1193: Her heart was still heavy with worry for Joy, but she couldn't ignore her brother. He needed care too.
To everyone's surprise, Noreen was waiting outside his room. The moment she saw them, she rushed over.
Her eyes filled with tears when she saw Brady lying on the gurney. Then, she turned sharply to Hadley and began blaming her. "You really went through with it, didn't you?" Two more hours later, the surgery was over. Joy was finally wheeled out of the operating room.
Josue stepped out of the operating room.
"Dr. Duncan." Hadley and Eric approached him quickly.
"How's Joy?" Hadley asked, her voice tight with concern.
"No need to worry," Josue replied with a calm smile. "The surgery went perfectly. Joy did great-everything was smooth, and she's one incredibly brave little girl." A wave of relief washed over Hadley as tears welled up in her eyes.
Eric glanced at her, his brows drawing together slightly. Then he turned to Josue and extended a hand. "We're grateful for your skill, Dr. Duncan. How is Joy doing now?" "She's been moved to the sterile room,” Josue replied. “Hadley's already been informed of the protocol." Hadley gave a quick nod. "I was just hoping we might be able to see her before that." "Just give it a little time," Josue said with a reassuring smile. "Once Joy starts recovering, you'll be seeing her every day. You might even find her a little too chatty then." Hadley blinked, caught off guard, but then let out a quiet laugh, her tears shimmering as they spilled down. "Thank you... That means a lot.” Latest chapters in gol.om "Go find the nurse later," Josue continued. “She will show you the surveillance feed." The sterile room had even stricter protocols than the ICU-no in-person visits, not even through glass.
Family could only catch a glimpse of their loved ones through the surveillance monitors stationed in the office area.
"Understood," Eric said, nodding. "Thank you again for everything." "Of course. Just doing my job." After Josue departed, Eric and Hadley made their way to the sterile ward area.
A nurse welcomed them and pulled up the surveillance footage on a nearby monitor.
On the screen, Joy lay quietly, her tiny arms raised above her head. If not for the oxygen mask covering her face, she could have been mistaken for a child simply napping.
But beneath the folds of her hospital gown, thin tubes and wires stretched out slinked to monitors, others draining fluids from her fragile body.
"Joy..." Hadley's heart lurched. She instinctively covered her mouth as tears welled up, her eyes turning red in an instant.
