The other person didn’t even have tto apologize before scrambling to run off. Yvonne's temper snapped.
“Hey, you hit me-don’t you apologize?” she called, grabbing the person by the collar to stop them.
“Let go! Let go of me!” the woman screamed when she realized she couldn't get away. Her hair was a tangled
mess that hid her face, but her shrill voice and frantic movements made it clear she was terrified.
Yvonne wondered briefly whether she looked that frightening. “Hey, you ran into me-why are you acting like
this?” she demanded.
The woman ignored her and suddenly began punching and kicking. When she couldn't break free, she
instinctively opened her mouth and bit Yvonne's arm.
“Ouch!” Yvonne's temper flared. Seeing the woman behave like a madman, and as the bite landed, she struck
back and knocked the woman unconscious.
From the corner of her eye, Yvonne saw someone watching from around the bend. Was the woman being
chased? she wondered.
She hadn't meant to get involved, but now the woman was out cold; she couldn't just leave her on the roadside.
Yvonne regretted acting so quickly. There was nothing to do now but load the woman into her car and drive off.
Sure enough, not long afterward, a
car began to follow them, keeping,a
