Chapter 152 "Not happy with me, huh?" Victor stormed out, fuming.

"Victor!" Claire called out in a panic.

Victor paused at the doorway but didn't turn around. Hearing the urgency in Claire's voice, his heart softened, and his mood lifted considerably.

"Can you not tell the Linwood family I'm here?" Claire's voice was tinged with a hint of pleading.

Victor wasn't unreasonable. Knowing Claire was innocent, he certainly had no intention of adding to her troubles.

His tone softened, "Don't worry, I won't tell them." After a brief pause, he added, "I won't tell Vincent or Brian either." Claire breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank you." Her gratitude instantly dissipated Victor's anger. His voice beclighter, "Take care of yourself. I'll visit when I have the chance." With that, he left.

The hospital room fell silent.

Claire felt much better and even regained her appetite. She returned to her meal while Sean sat by the window, engrossed in a book.

Sunlight streamed through the window, casting a warm glow on him, accentuating his tall and graceful figure. He was absorbed in his reading, and the light threw gentle shadows across his face, making his features even more striking.

His fingers lightly held the corner of a page, occasionally flipping it as he read. The light reflected off his glasses, adding a subtle gleam that highlighted his deep- set eyes.

Claire glanced up, and the scene filled her with an unexpected warmth. People around her cand went, but few truly cared for her.

She had once believed that Vincent, her childhood friend, truly cared for her, but reality had given her a harsh wake-up call. To the wealthy elite, she was just a poor outsider.

The Linwood family was like that, as were Brian and Victor, and many others...

Her experiences had left her with a stereotype of the wealthy: sharp and harsh.

Until she met Sean.

He was unlike anyone she had met from that world calm, reserved, exceptionally well-mannered, like a gentleman from a storied family in a classic .

Sean seemed to sense her gaze and looked up from his book.

His deep eyes met hers unexpectedly, and Claire's breath caught in her throat.

Without acknowledging her embarrassment, Sean asked softly, "Is the food to your liking?" Claire snapped back to reality, her cheeks tinged with a hint of pink. "Your grandmother's cooking is wonderful." She paused, remembering the two bottles of wine she had drunk the previous night. She didn't know their value, but she recognized his car as a Rolls-Royce. If he could afford such a car, the wine was surely expensive.

She had drunk it all, leaving none for him.

The thought embarrassed her. She hoped she hadn't acted foolishly after drinking, though she was confident in her character and believed her behavior was probably decent.

Gathering her thoughts, Claire spoke sincerely, "Mr. Foster, how much were those two bottles of wine last night? I'd like to reimburse you." Sean, amused by her earnestness, couldn't resist teasing her, "Fifty thousand each." Fifty thousand? Claire's eyes widened in shock.

Did she really just drink away a hundred thousand dollars, the price of a small house? Her face flushed with embarrassment.

"I... I'll pay you back." Sean set down his book and fixed his gaze on her, clearly entertained by her mix of shock and embarrassment.

"And how do you plan to do that?" he asked, a playful glint in his eye.
