Chapter 272 No one could ever threaten him.

A slow, mocking smile curled Sean's lips, a hint of disdain playing at the corners of his mouth. His gaze toward Jarrod and Karin grew colder, as chilling and merciless as frost settling over a winter night.

"These past few weeks, I've been caught up with the Eastborough Project," he said, his tone casual, almost bored. "I nearly forgot all about Cole Corporation." The words hit Jarrod like a bucket of ice water. The arrogance that had animated his face drained away, leaving him frozen in place.

His fists clenched unconsciously. Never in his wildest dreams had Jarrod imagined Sean would say something like that. It was a warning-sharp and unmistakable.

"What... what are you trying to say?" Jarrod stammered, nerves fraying.

Sean didn't bother to answer. Instead, with studied calm, he pulled out his phone and dialed Liam's number. His voice, deep and resonant, landed on Jarrod like a sledgehammer: "Do whatever it takes to bring down Cole Corporation." Jarrod's eyes went wide with terror, disbelief etched across his features.

Sean was actually declaring war on Cole Corporation-without a second thought.

Cole Corporation was the top conglomerate in Cresthaven, a business giant with deep roots and influence in every industry. It wasn't the sort of company anyone could topple on a whim.

Yet Sean spoke as if he were merely ordering coffee-unconcerned, matter-of-fact, and so absolute that Jarrod had no choice but to believe him.

Jarrod had spent decades navigating the cutthroat world of Vesperia's elite; he knew exactly how much power the Foster family wielded. As the most prominent dynasty in Northcrest City, the Fosters had wealth, connections, and influence to spare. If Sean wanted to destroy Cole Corporation, he had the means to do it. Defeat settled over Jarrod like a shroud. His eyes filled with despair. "Mr. Foster, we only acted out of concern for our daughter. How could you be so blind to the truth? Is it really worth starting a war with Cole Corporation... just for a woman?" Sean smiled faintly, his gaze unreadable. "Out of concern for your daughter?" He let the words hang in the air, turning them over in his mind, his expression growing increasingly sardonic.

"If you really care so much for her, maybe you should focus on finding out who was actually responsible all those years ago-instead of pinning everything on Claire." Jarrod and Karin stared, struck dumb. In unison, they blurted, "What are you talking about?" Leaning back against the sofa, Sean looked effortlessly elegant and relaxed. But his voice carried an icy authority that brooked no argument. "Your daughter is awake. Why don't you ask her yourself?" What? Irene was awake? The news hit the couple so hard that for a moment, they were too stunned to react.

Then Sean added, "But it seems your precious son is the one who's been hiding her. If you want the truth, you'll have to pay him a visit at the county jail." Silence fell.

If Sean was telling the truth... did that mean they had wrongly accused Claire all those years ago?

The thought was too much to bear. Yet if Irene wasn't the real victim, and Claire wasn't the quorit then who was? And what did it mean that they'd arranged for Claire to be attacked in prison? Had they targeted the wrong person, letting the true villain walk free for five years? No. Karin shook her head violently, eyes burning as she glared at Claire. "It was you. It had to be you."

A dangerous glint appeared in Sean's eyes as he narrowed them at Karin. "You have one day to uncover the truth By this ttomorrow, I want to see you both on your knees in front of Claire, begging for forgiveness."

"If I'm satisfied, Cole Corporation will remain standing. If I'm not then Cole Corporation will be nothing but a memory." His gaze swept over Jarrod and Karin, icy and dismissive. "Show them out." Jarrod and Karin stumbled out of Foster Manor, every step unsteady. They looked as if they'd aged ten years in a matter of minutes.

After stopping at the hospital to tend to their injuries, they drove straight to the county jail.
