Chapter 315 Sean didn't manage to fall asleep until nearly four in the morning.

Barely three hours later, his phone erupted with a shrill ring, yanking him from a restless slumber.

He fumbled for his phone, his voice rough with exhaustion. "Hello?" Liam's voice cthrough the line. "Mr. Foster, there's a crucial meeting in Eastborough today that needs your personal attention. I'll swing by to pick you up soon." "Alright," Sean replied, exhaling deeply.

Liam seemed to catch the fatigue in Sean's tone-he sounded drained, nothing like his usual self.

"Sir, are you alright?" "I'm fine," Sean said curtly, and ended the call.

He forced himself to sit up, only for a wave of dizziness to wash over him-low blood sugar. His lips twisted in discomfort as he cursed under his breath, making a silent vow: Never again with the takeout. Never.

After a quick shower and getting dressed in a sharp black suit, Sean opened his bedroom door.

The moment he did, the familiar pungent smell of cilantro hit him full in the face.

Sean's heart sank.

Claire stood in the kitchen, her usual gentle smile lighting up her face. "Good morning, Mr. Foster. You're up just in time-I made snoodles for breakfast. Cand have some." Sean's gaze drifted to the steaming bowl on the table.

Maybe he'd eaten too quickly yesterday, giving Claire the impression he hadn't had enough. Today's portion looked even larger.

Claire's smile grew warmer. "You're up early today. No need to rush out like yesterday—just take your time. And if it's not enough, there's more in the kitchen." Sean felt his lips twitch again in resignation.

He really should explain his cilantro allergy to Claire, but seeing the hopeful look in her eyes, the words died in his throat.

It's just an allergy, he told himself. Worst case, he could always take smedicine later.

Still, as he walked towards the table, his steps were a little hesitant.

Just as he sat down, the doorbell rang.

Sean's eyes lit up-Liam must have arrived early.

Perfect. He could use work as an excuse, grab the bowl on his way out, and hand it off to Liam in the car. That way, Claire's thoughtful gesture wouldn't go to waste.

He stood up. "I'll get the door." Claire, unable to hear the doorbell, read his lips and quickly interjected, "No, no, Mr. Foster. Sit down and eat. I'll get it." She hurried over and opened the door.

Sean stayed at the table, not touching his fork, eyes fixed on the entryway, silently hoping Liam would step through.

But as soon as he saw who it was, his hope deflated.

It wasn't Liam. It was Mandy Shaw.

The moment Claire pulled the door open, Mandy bounded inside like a happy little bird, flinging her arms around Claire and burying her face in her shoulder, exclaiming, "Claire, I missed you so much!" She even took a deep, tic breath, as if inhaling Claire's scent.

So sweet! Sean: ...

He felt a weird pang of jealousy, though he'd never admit it.

Claire looked surprised. "But it's not Sunday, Mandy. What brings you here today?"

Mandy released her, grinning from ear to ear. "I don't have class this morning so I thought I'd drop by and E see you."

She brightened further, eyes shining. with mischief. "From now on, m whenever I'm free, I'll cvisit you-is that okay?" Mandy's playful energy was infectious, like a carefree child without a worry in the world.

But in her gaze, for just a flicker of a second, was something softer-deep affection and concern.

She just wanted to cheer Claire up.

Claire's expression softened, and she gently patted Mandy's head, ead om indulging her like a little sister. "Of course, I'd love that. I wish I could see you every day." With someone as pure-hearted as Mandy around, how could anyone not feel happier? Just watching her, Claire felt her own spirits lift.
