Chapter 333 Mandy stared down at the woman sprawled on the ground, barely clinging to life. The woman's chest rose and fell in shallow, trembling breaths-her life was hanging by a thread.

But even now, Mandy's fury was far from spent.

To be certain that the woman would never recover the use of her hands or feet, Mandy snatched up a heavy stone and brought it down, again and again, onto the woman's wrists and ankles.

Thud. Thud. Thud. Each blow echoed with a sickening crack as bone splintered beneath the force.

Blood and shattered bone mingled in a grisly mess. The sight was enough to make anyone avert their eyes. Once she was done, Mandy straightened up.

Her hands were slick and dripping with blood; crimson trails trickled from her fingertips and fell to the pavement. "This is the punishment you earned," Mandy said coldly, her voice devoid of mercy. "What Claire suffered was far worse." Without another glance, she turned away.

She had barely stepped out of the alley when she froze.

Someone was standing at the mouth of the alley.

A man, his face obscured by shadow, stood with the streetlight at his back.

Mandy's heart dropped. He must have seen everything.

And if he had, she couldn't let him go.

Without thinking, she raised the bloodied knife still in her hand.

He noticed the movement and spoke, his voice calm and familiar. "It's me." Mandy hesitated, lowering the knife. "Liam?" He nodded, his eyes shadowed with a complexity she couldn't decipher.

She was silent for a long moment, her voice hoarse when she finally spoke. "You saw it all?" "Yes." Liam didn't look away; he just stood there, his gaze deep and unreadable.

The silence stretched between them, the only sound the cool night breeze whistling through the alley, carrying with it the metallic tang of blood that clung to Mandy's skin.

At last, Liam broke the silence. "Mandy, what you did that's a crime." "So what?" Mandy shot back. "You planning to call the police on me?" Liam met her gaze and sighed. "No." "Then get out of my way." Mandy tried to push past him, but he caught her wrist in a firm grip.

He was strong-Mandy couldn't break free.

"Cwith me," he said, his tone brooking no argument.

She struggled. "Why should I go with you?" Liam's eyes didn't leave hers. "Do you really want to show up at school covered in blood?" Mandy stiffened. She looked down and saw the dark stains soaking her clothes, stark and glaring under the streetlights.

She stopped resisting, letting Liam lead her to his car.

They sped through the city, neon signs flickering past the windows, painting Mandy's face in cold, shifting colors.

Liam brought her back to his apartment.

He opened the door and stepped aside, gesturing for her to go in first. He followed behind and closed the door quietly.

"You should clean up," his voice was steady, matter-of-fact.

Mandy didn't reply. She just walked straight to the bathroom.

Soon, the sound of running water echoed through the apartment.

Liam sat by the floor-to-ceiling window in the living room, pouring himself a glass of red wine. He m swirled the glass, the deep crimson liquid catching the city lights. He sipped slowly, eyes drifting over the glittering skyline-though his thoughts were far from the view. Eventually, the water shut off.

Mandy walked out in a white bathrobe, her hair damp and clinging to her cheeks. Droplets slid down the N ends, her skin almost luminous in the soft light. She looked ethereal, her beauty tinged with an icy edge. Liam's gaze darkened as he watched her, his eyes lingering longer than usual.

Mandy seemed not to notice. She strode over, snatched the wine glass from his hand, and knocked back the En contents in one swift motion. Then, without a word, she grabbed the bottle and drank straight from it, draining it in heavy, unbroken gulps.
